Lock Haven is a holiday property that has been converted from part of a former canalside building – a wing of Tylers Lock on the Worcester and Birmingham Canal. Tylers Lock, the engine house property is a Grade II listed water pumping station and was also a night club. This ground floor property adjoins the owner’s home and benefits from a wonderful canalside location with private lawns and even its own wedding altar! The terrace is perfect for sitting out on and watching the passing narrow boats floating by. With lots of history, this really is a hidden gem surrounded by stunning scenery in the heart of the Worcestershire countryside. The property is situated next to the towpath on the Tardebigge flight of locks; lock 57 of 58 between Worcester and Birmingham and a short distance from the Tardebigge Tunnel, one of the longest in England. The towpath is beautifully maintained by British Waterways and offers wonderful opportunities for walking and cycling. The surrounding towns of both Redditch and Bromsgrove are ripe for exploring with their town centres and abundance of shops and restaurants. Both the property and nearby Lickey Hills are ideal for walkers and people looking for a spot of rambling, providing breathtaking views of the local area. Guests are also within driving distance of the market towns of Droitwich Spa, 8 miles, famous for its Roman salt mines, Evesham, 15 miles, the city of Worcester, 16 miles, and even Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon is just a short drive along the motorway. England’s second largest city, Birmingham and the NEC is only a 30-minute drive and is perfect for shopping, events and shows. The villages of Aston Fields and Tutnall are both within 1 mile. A bistro pub is 20 minutes’ walk away along the towpath past a couple of locks and offers full restaurant and bar food with occasional entertainment. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.
