This is truly a very well looked after and very well equipped cottage situated at the end of a quite colder sack. There is a driveway which has enough room to take 3 cars. There is a beautiful well maintained secured garden at the rear of the cottage which is ideal if you are taking young children or pets on holiday with you. The inside & outside of this cottage is well maintained and most important of all it is very clean throughout which is a credit to the owner. There was a welcome pack for us on arrival which included too many items to list but here is just a few, Bread, milk, butter, jam, bottle of wine, biscuits, tea, coffee, sugar, shower gel, shampoo, toilet rolls, cleaning products and many more items. I have to say that our stay here was a great experience and we will be returning again next year. A big thank you to the owner for making our stay here very enjoyable.

Longcliffe is a lovely comfortable cottage, generously provisioned with everything we needed. It was well stocked, nicely decorated and very welcoming. The garden was beautiful, well kept, neat and tidy and really secure - believe me, my little dog would have found any breaks in the perimeter if there were any! The location is very quiet with wonderful views; a sea view at one side and mountain views at another. Everything is well cared for and maintained and a real credit to the owners.

The garden was particularly stunning and we enjoyed sitting out in it. But the whole property was fantastic and really did make you feel as though you were living in a home rather than a holiday let. Furnishings were comfortable, clean and ample for a larger party than we had (4 adults). All round a fantastic break. The owner was most helpful with any questions we had.

As we have booked holiday cottages with Sykes Cottages before we fully expected every aspect to be perfect and we were not let down. The owner of the property was helpful.

A super base for the Western Lakes, with so much to do and see locally - a week wasn't enough. The proprietors were most helpful and welcoming. The welcome pack and level of information about the cottage and surrounding area were excellent. The enclosed and secure garden is great for families and pets. We would definitely use the cottage again.

We had a wonderful stay at Longcliffe. We felt at home from the moment we arrived. The rooms were very spacious. The standard of cleanliness was excellent and the kitchen was really well equipped. We particularly loved the garden, it had plenty of space for all 6 children and they even found a little den. St. Bees beach is beautiful and only 10 min drive away and there is a super little play area about 15 min walk away. We all loved staying at Longcliffe and would highly recommend it to others.

Accommodation was warm and cosy. Far enough to be secluded, but close enough to towns not to be isolated. Lovely village with very friendly people, close to the coast and the country.

The property was spacious which served us well for we had visiting family. The location was ideal for the property overlooked farm fields to the rear and contained an enclosed garden - ideal for toddler and our Labrador Gemma. Good access to the beach at St Bees which was very nice. Also close by they have built a new children's play area which was due to open 10th July 2014.

The property was spacious, light and comfortable. It was very well equipped with everything you could think of and things you hadn't thought of. The village is located close to the sea and not far from the tourist area but we hardly saw anybody and there was no noise from the neighbouring properties. We would certainly book Longcliffe again.

The cottage was very comfortable, and the owners were friendly and gave us a warm welcome. The welcome pack was very much appreciated and unexpected. We will definitely come again if available. I was really surprised to find towels for the dogs, very nice touch. The dogs say thank you, had a great time!

We liked everything about this cottage. It was a very clean and well maintained property, a credit to the owner. A wonderful welcome pack was waiting for us on arrival which included too many items to list which was a nice thought. The cottage is at the end of a very quiet cul-de-sac with enough parking for up to 3 cars. The enclosed garden to the rear of the property was superb because we had taken our Labradors with us. I would recommend this cottage to anyone who wants a quiet holiday. We will be returning again next year.

We had a fantastic stay, the best holiday so far! The house was well equipped! The garden was beautiful and well kept. Only regret is that we didn't book a longer stay. We are already counting down until next year when we want to come again.

This is a lovely well equipped cottage which has a great garden for dogs. It is good for a relaxed day in the garden or as a base to discover the beautiful area. Has a pub serving lovely food and drink within walking distance. Also a nice seating area outside pub which is dog friendly. Cottage owner very kind and friendly.

The property is ideal for a family holiday or get together. The owner has thought of everything to make the holiday very enjoyable, right down to the umbrellas for the rain to the thermos flasks to take with you on a nice walk. We would recommend the property to anybody and we hope to go back in 2013.

The location to both sea and lakes. The warm atmosphere of our cottage and its' thoughtful extras. The fact that our dogs could not get out of the back garden and believe me, one of them did try! Loved it all in fact and will definitely recommend to friends and gather there again for family occasions.

December 2012
It is the best equipped holiday let we've stayed in, in this country. It's a bit old fashioned but very homely and warm over a very cold weekend. There's plenty of room in the house and it's in a very quiet area, but only 10 mins walk to the nearest pub.
Mr Stretton
June 2013
A full week of sunshine, great accommodation, nothing to much trouble for the owner to make your stay as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. Even the dogs had their own towels. Lots to see and do in the area, a good base to explore the Lake District. Great food at the Royal Oak in the village. Another good property and stress free holiday from Sykes.

propyfath erty was spotlessly clean, and must be the best equipped property we have ever rented. We had a relaxing break with family who had travelled from different parts of the country. Plenty of walking in the area, loads of information provided by the owner.

We felt very welcome, especially as so many provisions were left for us to use. It was just like staying with friends! The house had an unusual layout, with made it a bit confusing at times. But it is great for families to share. Despite instructions, we struggeled with the showers - it didn't appear possible for two people to shower at the same time. The village is small and not very attractive, but it does have a big pub, which advertises free WiFi and a small supplies of groceries to buy. We had a decent meal there, but the WiFi didn't work and when we needed milk, the pub appeared shut... The property was warm and clean. We didn't use the garden, but it looked nice too.

We had a problem with the washing machine on the first day of visit. By the second day it was fixed. That was excellent service I would say. The house had ample room for Grand Parents,Daughter and Son-in-law plus four grand children. The house was well equipped although the furniture and decor was a bit dated it was still clean and comfortable. The location was central to most places. The garden was great for keeping the kids happy and safe. It was peaceful and the shed storeage was ample for 8 bikes. We all had a good time and would go again.

August 2011
The house was amazingly well equipped. The owners had certainly gone the extra mile to ensure that our family get together was a relaxed happy time - no hassle, no fuss, no stress. Thank you. This is the 2nd time we've used Sykes and we wouldn't use any other company now. We would recommend you to anyone.

The setting was ideal for a relaxing and invigorating holiday. The cottage was comfortable and very well equipped and the owner of the cottage was very welcoming. There was every opportunity to visit the coast and the magnificent Lake District. This is a beautiful area of the country and we were very impressed with the accommodation and facilities.

Every little home comfort was included plus the owner treated us to wine, biscuits, bread, butter and the local paper which was a very thoughtful gesture. We had a marvellous time at Longcliffe and were very sad to leave at the end of our week. Highly recommended.

The cottage had easy access to the coast for walks and also to the less commercialised parts of the Lake District for mountain walking. The village had two good pubs for eating and the local people were very friendly towards us.

We had a brilliant stay at Longcliffe. It was spacious enough for 3 families, with 2 children each!! The deco was slightly dated, but we weren't there for the deco. The house had 2 highchairs, 2 booster seats and 2 cots... The kitchen was very well equipped, the garden beautiful and not over looked, the house backs onto fields. There is delightful play area opposite the pub/restaurant (about 20 minute walk, child pace!) Also, about 5-10 minute drive away there is a big town (Egremont), which has takeaways, post office, large co op and many other shops. We had lovely trips to the beach, which again was just a short drive away. We had such a wonderful time!
