Lowen Penty Family Cottage description

Holiday home
Lowen Penty is a semi-detached cottage in the town of Lostwithiel. It has a double room and a second bedroom which can be offered as either a double or twin on request. There is a family bathroom, and downstairs, an open plan living area with fitted kitchen, dining area and sitting area with gas fire. Parking is on the roadside outside the cottage, and while there is no outside space at the cottage, the amenities of the town are on the doorstep, including shops, cafes, woodland walks and more. Lowen Penty is an ideal base for enjoying Mevagissey, the Eden Project, Fowey and the beaches of St Austell Bay.

The small Cornish town of Lostwithiel sits in the Fowey river valley. Along the coastsyou will find small fishing ports, areas of great historical interest and monuments shrouded in myth and legend which give Cornwall much of its character. Inland, you can find remnants of the famous Cornish Tin Mining industry – a profession which gave rise to the invention of the Cornish Pasty! Cornwall is also famous for its ‘eco-attitude' and you will find many nature reserves throughout the region, such as the Eden Project, which is only half an hour away by road.

Cornwall's visitors are constantly tempted back to the beautiful coastline, tiny fishing villages, hidden coves and the world-class surfing. Whatever the reason, Cornwall has long cemented its place as one of Britain's premier holiday destinations.

This charming period cottage comfortably exceeded our expectations; we felt quickly at home and well looked after. We would be pleased to recommend this cottage to our friends and family, and will plan a return visit as soon as our commitments and budget allow.

We loved our stay in Lowen Penty. The cottage was beautifully furnished, very comfortable, warm, and really cosy. It felt like a home away from home. The cottage was situated close to town.

Good location with plenty of places to eat in walking distance, lovely village.

The cottage had a friendly atmosphere and was pretty without being over the top! Lostwithiel is so close to the cottage it is convenient to pop in for bread and milk in the mornings and the shopkeepers are really friendly. The cafes are all good but we particularly liked the lunch at the Duchy coffee house, although we were told the others were good, too. Eden Project was good as was the harbour at Polperro, Fowey and Lanhydrock House.

We enjoyed our stay at Lowen Penty. Lostwithiel is a very interesting town with good facilities, including pubs, excellent fish chip shop, places to eat, shops train station. Within easy reach of local attractions, ie The Lost Gardens of Helligan, The Eden Project, The Duchy of Cornwall Nursery (including very good tea rooms). Restormel Castle is very interesting. Within easy reach of the Tintagel and Boscastle, coastal walks, to name but a few. Plenty to do, and well worth a visit.

Lowen Penty is perfectly situated in Lostwithiel. The property is close to the train station which is also ideal for exploring Cornwall, but I have to say we never heard one train. The property itself is bijou, cosy and comfortable. Being open plan, it has been thoughtfully furnished to ensure good use of space, we felt very comfortable and at home. The bed was amazingly comfortable, the gas fire and central heating soon warmed the cottage up. Such a lovely little cottage, we would definitely stay there again.

We frequently visit Lostwithiel and booked the cottage with a view to do some house hunting, the cottage was ideal for this purpose. Very warm and cosy; clean and tidy, and ideally situated.

Lovely cottage, freshly decorated, cosy, lovely cream tea on arrival. Lostwithiel is a lovely town, and we really enjoyed it. The owners were very helpful.

The cottage was lovely, and could not have been nearer the station, although strangely we did not hear the trains! Lostwithiel is a very quiet place, but with the station being minutes away it meant that we could travel about. It was a very good holiday.

Great cottage situated in a good location. Sykes was very helpful.

We liked the fact that we could easily walk into the town - but not the brief power cut we had on the first evening. It turned out that trees had come down in the storm. The Co-op, bakery, chemist, newsagent, bookshop and most of the antique shops were great and we also enjoyed the coffee shop. Of the places we visited, The Eden Project was our favourite and we spent all day there. We even found the lift this time! Mevagissey and Fowey were good places to visit, too, and we found that we could get into the harbour car park as it was out of season. Lowen Penty itself was comfortable, warm and very convenient to use. I especially liked the attractively furnished bedrooms and the friendly feel of the whole place. It feels like borrowing a home rather than renting a house!
