We stayed here for a short break with friends. On arrival, after a lengthy drive we received a very warm welcome from the owners who live nearby. This is a delightful, well equipped cottage set in a lovely landscaped garden (with large pond and fountain). The cottage is as described in the literature and was modernised a couple of years ago. It is very comfortable and furnished to a high standard. The owners are most helpful and on hand to assist with any enquiries. As our visit coincided with the plum season, we were given a large dish of the fruit fresh from the orchard to go with the large delightful cake, freshly baked for our arrival.
Overall, the accommodation is excellent with all rooms being of a good size and the furniture including beds most comfortable. However the twin bedroom could perhaps do with just a little more storage space for it's occupants. There is a table tennis table on hand if you fancy a game.
A short drive away are Croft Castle and Berrington Hall (both NT). They are worth visiting but if using a Sat Nav take care that it does not direct you down the numerous very narrow unmade roads which may be short cuts but in the long run take longer.
The Royal George in Lingen is a couple of miles away and is a typical village pub selling traditional ales and home cooked food. The menu is not extensive but the food is tasty and there is plenty of it. It is probably best to book in advance if you intend to go.
In summary, a very pleasant part of the country to visit and a lovely cottage to stay in.
