The cottage was absolutely perfect, it had everything you could need in a cosy welcoming space. The huge garden was beautifully kept, with stunning views over the hills and much enjoyed by ourselves and our dog. The surrounding area is quiet and beautiful, with lovely walks straight from the door.

It was an absolute pleasure to stay in this lovely cosy cottage surrounded by the most beautiful countryside. Had glorious views and walks from the doorstep or within a short distance, and the joy of seeing the Shetland ponies every day. What made this special was the welcome from the hosts, they were warm genuine folk who made us feel like part of the family. Our Springer Spaniel was in her element and concurs with us that we must return for another holiday as soon as we can. A definite gem!

This cottage is beautifully peaceful. The setting on a farm that breeds Shetland ponies is lovely. The owners of the cottage are very friendly. They renovated the cottage themselves, and it is really obvious how much attention to detail they have put into it. It is one of the best cottages I have ever stayed in. They have made sure that all the little things have been attended to.

A beautiful cottage in the most lovely setting. We took our dog with us and it was perfect with the large garden and many fields which belong to the owners. The host were only next door and was there to help in any way possible. The best thing I can say is I will be booking again this year.

The welcome was lovely and the cottage fairytale like. We enjoyed the location and the access to all parts of the Peak District that we had set out to explore. We had a 'romantic' time - chaps make the investment!

The welcome from the owner of Manor Cottage was great, my wife and our dog were made to feel straight at home. The environment is beautiful with excellent views and walks, the dog had the run of the place and had a great time. We came home happy, relaxed and recharged. We will be back.

The owners were extremely helpful, welcoming and very friendly. They showed us around the cottage and explained everything about the cooking facilities, bathroom and bedroom. Every need was catered for in this gorgeous cottage which was warm and cosy. The owners gave us complete privacy during our stay, but if we needed their help they were always available. They are the perfect hosts. We had a peaceful, lovely Christmas in this gorgeous cottage and will certainly return in the future.

The owners were attentive without being obtrusive. They gave excellent advice on excursions and local dining. The cottage was compact, warm and comfortable with everything to hand and was just the haven of peace I was looking for despite the February weather. The bed was wonderfully comfortable and I slept like a log. A bonus was a skylight over the bed where I was able to look at the stars on the two clear nights I had. Highly recommended.

The owners were so helpful and kind. The cottage was far better than expected, I feel the pictures did not give it justice. If you need to get away from the daily rat race, this is the place to be. A brilliant position to explore the Peaks and villages.

The photos do not do justice to this gem of a cottage, it is a charming and relaxing property set in beautiful surroundings. The owners are a delightful couple and nothing is to much trouble for them. We had a great holiday with plenty of walks and attractions within easy reach. We plan to return there in the future to people we would be proud to count as friends.

First of all we had the most warmest of welcomes from the owners. The cottage itself was a haven, in quiet peaceful surroundings with lovely views. Not a sound in the evenings, the ideal place to get away from the everyday bustle and recharge the batteries.

This was my fiance and my first trip to the region with our 9 month old puppy 'Loki' - our welcome by Shirley was wonderful a delightful lady who spent time with us and assured us of every aspect of this exceptionally quaint retreat. Maurice we met the very next morning or rather Loki did and they struck up a terrific relationship immediately. The cottage adequately accomodated the three of us with a single double bed upstairs and adjoining bathroom - the shower height posed some issues for my partner and i found the sofas a lottle upright but these were minor issues to be honest. The cottage has a kitchen/diner and lounge space with flat screen and wifi. All cooking and eating utensils were provided as we're bed linen and towels. Shirley had put out water for Loki and offered a dog bed. ever so thoughtful and a pleasure to have met them both, would highly recommend this cottage with a pub and fod just 10 minutes walk away! day and he too was

We booked this cottage with sykes cottages, couldn't have been easier if I'm honest.....This was really atrip to find out how our puppy would get on and well...we were made to feel right at home from the start. Both Shirley and Maurice were outstanding hosts and we were made to feel like life long friends immediately, I would highly recommend this gem of a place it really is lovely. As I say booked through sykes and had a call from Shirley, the owner, a couple of days before we arrived which was really pleasing and reassuring. Travelled to foxt stopping off at Leek about 10 miles away for provisions en route. Arrived quite late - shirley had put out water for our dog and was there to reet us. A well appointed cottage with everything you'd need Kitchen diner and living area very cosy and well decorated cooking utensils, dining ware, pots and pans etc all available TV, Wifi and radio available. Upstairs double bed room and bathroom accessed by quite a tight staicase to be fair but again very welkl decorated and bed very comfortable. bathroom has a shower over the bath and I found it quite tight in terms of head room but ok for our week. Cottage very warm with temperature adjustment via thermostat. this cottage is on a shetland pony stud farm, and to be fair our dog who is very well mannered had the run of the place thanks to the owners. 10 minute walk to the pub - Fox and Goose. great walks locally - canal walk to Black Lion really nice from Frogshall Wharf (2 miles away). I cannot recommend this place enough - It is about 13 / 14 miles from the Roaches and about 40 minutes drive to Castleton, Edale etc. Really well located to be fair.
