Mill Cottage Pet-Friendly Cottage description

Holiday home
Mill Cottage is a cosy, semi-detached cottage in Hinderwell village. With two bedrooms, a double and a single, it can sleep three comfortably. There is also a fitted kitchen with dining area, a sitting room with woodburner and a shower room. Outside there is off road parking for two cars in the owner's gardn centre car park, and a delightful garden with furniture. The garden also houses a stone annexe, which can sleep an additional two guests, by arrangement with the owner. Mill Cottage is a comfortable holiday base, ideal for a couple or small family.

Area
Hinderwell is a small, lively village close to the fishing villages of Staithes and Runswick Bay. Hinderwell was mentioned in the Domesday Book as Hildrewell, a derivation of Hilda’s Well, named for the Abbess of Whitby who was travelling through the parish in a drought and was asked to intercede. Her prayers were answered when a spring appeared near the sight of the present Parish Church, and this spring has continued to flow from the hillside to this day. The village is ideally situated for exploring the beautiful countryside, and walks, cycle ways, gliding, horse riding and fishing are all well catered for in the area. Whitby is seven miles away and the town has a rich and varied heritage waiting to be discovered. This is a fabulous holiday base.

Region
The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

Amenities
Gas central heating with woodburner in sitting room. Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, washing machine in outside utility, flat screen TV with Freeview, DVD, radio/CD. Fuel, power and starter pack for woodburner inc. in rent. Bed linen inc. in rent. Off road parking for 2 cars in the owner's garden centre car park. Bike storage. Enclosed lawned garden and decked patio to rear with garden furniture and BBQ. One well-behaved dog welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shop and pub 2 mins walk. Good location for coastal and country walks. Very practical garden for dogs and children as it is totally enclosed, but also provides a very sociable place for adults. Quiet location but with good access to shops, pubs and restaurants. Owners very friendly and approachable. Good place for a total chill-out break.

The cottage garden was much better than expected and our Jack Russell Speckles was 100% secure and had a whale of a time in total security. The owners were exceptional hosts and most friendly, we really enjoyed the newly laid eggs at breakfast. We are looking forward to our return in October to this very comfortable cottage and possibly again in 2014.

The cottage was furnished to a very high standard, extremely warm cosy. The owners were very welcoming, all in all, home from home. The enclosed garden proved a safe environment for Toby the beagle and the 2 pubs in the village were dog friendly. It was a great area, lots of coves to explore, we can highly recommend it to any one.

October 2012
Not only was cottage beautiful inside and out, but it was set up more like a proper home. With places to put things like a cupboard for shoes and coats and room in the kitchen to unpack groceries. The appliances were good quality. Owners were really lovely and couldn't have been more helpful. Garden was enclosed properly and escape-proof for our dog.

July 2012
The owners were very helpful, and the area was ideal for us as we like to walk everywhere and this fitted the bill. The meals from The Badger Hounds pub were first class - in fact it was all so good that we booked again for next June. We left on the Saturday which is a first for my wife as normally by Thursday she is ready to go home - but she did not want to leave this time.
Mr Appleyard

We have just returned from our first UK holiday for many years and our very first holiday cottage rental ever. Mill Cottage was our holiday choice and what a good choice we made. The cottage was very spacious, well appointed, with everything you would want in a holiday cottage. A well presented secure garden was ideal for us and our dog, with plenty of seating and a sunny aspect. We could not fault the cottage, the owner lives close and we found them very helpful and friendly, not forgetting the "free range eggs he supplied. The village has a shop, butchers, fish & chip take away, restaurant and two pubs both serving food, so again most things you would want close by. Good roads provided easy access to coastal villages and with Whitby just a 10 min drive away and Scarborough only another 30 mins. Also easy travel to the wonderful North Yorkshire Moors, an area of outstanding scenery. If for a change you decide to catch the bus you will find a good service to Whitby to the south and Saltburn, Redcar and Middlesbrough to the north. Well sign posted walks are also close to hand, cliff top walks to Staithes and Runswick are ideal and easy to manage. We hope to return next year, sorry we will return next year, FIRST CLASS

The cottage is in an ideal place, lovely and peaceful, but within a minute's walking distance to 2 pubs, fish and chips, post office and a butcher's. Comfortably furnished, feels like a home from home, everything included what you could wish for. Fresh flowers in the vase , and given some lovely fresh eggs by the friendly owner. The garden is enclosed and safe for dogs, a great patio area to sit out and enjoy the sun. Clean tidy and cosy, recommended. Hopefully get to stay again in the future. Fantastic.

Cottage has recently been refurbed to a very high standard; it is an excellent base for both the coast & inland. Owners made us feel very welcome and they were very helpfull, we will be going again. This is a super part of the country with so much around, Runswick Bay for example, Hinderwell people also make you very welcome. Pub meals are good in dog friendly pubs, fish and chip shop and the butchers also deserve a mention.
