It was faultless, a rare example in cottages we have visited. It was ideal to travel to Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. The cottage was so quiet even with being close to the town centre. Perfect in every way.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at Miller's Retreat, and it definitely won`t be the last. It is spacious, comfortable and has a lovely conservatory to sit in. There is also a beautiful garden which is very peaceful and relaxing. It is just a real home from home and the owner is really friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend.

This cottage was excellent, there was everything you needed and more. We used the cottage as a base to visit Derbyshire, but if you just wanted to stay in during the day, there is everything you could possibly want. The conservatory was lovely to sit in and read. The shower was amazing, having so many settings, I wanted to stay in there all day! I can't recommend this cottage highly enough. I would certainly recommend it to anyone and would like to go again next year!

The cottage was very modern and it was furnished and decorated to a very high standard - I would happily recommend to friends or family. We have stayed in several dog friendly holiday cottages now across England Wales and I have to say this is one of the best. There are plenty of places to go in the surrounding area including Chatsworth Bakewell. We thoroughly enjoyed our weeks stay and so did our dog!!!

July 2014
Delightfully relaxing. Good base for exploring. Accommodating and genial hosts. Excellent accommodation. Plenty of local areas for dog walking. This holiday wouldn't have worked if the dogs had been stressed, but they weren't as the garden area was a lovely retreat haven for them and they enjoyed their interaction with the hosts own dog. Also enjoyed the bird watching sessions and benefited from the host's bird knowledge base.
Mrs Widdowson

The cottage was extremely clean and comfortable; everything was of a high standard. The new addition of the conservatory overlooking the garden, with all the birds was delightful. The location of the cottage is very good with only a five minute walk to all of the shops and pubs and the wonderful Bolsover Castle. It is less than an hour's drive to get you into the Peak District for walking. Great for a relaxing or an adventurous holiday.

My Husband and I had a lovely week in Millers Retreat. We were made so welcome by David and Beverley. The Cottage is immaculately clean and very comfortable. It is home from home in every way. The sun room is delightful and we enjoyed every morning watching the birds at the feeders. They even have binoculars and a bird book. The shower is a luxury you can sit down in it! You can have your very own steam room and plenty of hot water. We were lucky enough to have some sunshine and had the pleasure of sitting outside in the lovely garden. It is in a great location only 5 minutes walk to all the shops, restaurants and pubs. Bolsover Castle is a great place to visit and had a very good event when we were there. Nice little coffee shop too. Wetherspoons is a good pub. The food is actually pretty good for a chain and the drinks are cheap. We would highly recommend a stay at Millers Retreat.

We have stayed at this property 4 times now as it is such a delightful place and we were thrilled to find it better than ever on our latest visit. There has now been a beautiful sun-room added which is superb for watching all the bird life in the garden or just relaxing. I can't fault this property, we have stayed in a few holiday cottages over the years (being senior citizens now) and this is the only one we have ever returned to. Excellent value.
Mrs Chase

We had a lovely holiday in this cottage. The cottage was the best we have stayed in. It was clean, spacious, very well equiped with everything you could possibly need. The owners were very welcoming and friendly, but never intrusive. We took a young baby with us (4 months) and the cottage was ideal. Plenty of space for travel cot in the main bedroom. We picked the location as it was near the Sherwood Forest and enjoyed walking around this area. Found quite a few places we could visit and walk with a pram. I would definately recommend this cottage to others.

We chose this property as it was convenient for visiting our son who was celebrating his 40th birthday that week. It was really wonderful with lots of little extra touches such as a box of tissues in each room and binoculars supplied to watch the varied birdlife in the delightful garden. The owners are really helpful and friendly, even bringing us some chopsticks and warming trays when hearing we were having our son and daughter in law over for chinese take-away. The cottage is in the town of Bolsover with its castle and is in easy reach of the M1. We had an excellent week there and would recommend it to anyone at any time of year.

Millers Retreat is an excellent cottage. More than we could have hoped for. We only stayed for one week but would have loved to have stayed for a month. Its a beautiful cottage, there is nothing negative to say about it and the owners were really nice and friendly. We loved the garden with all the birds visiting. We were within a couple of minutes walking distance of the local shops and the castle which was really worth a visit. We could buy everything we needed locally. We need not have left the location at all and some days we didn't go too far. We would love to go back for another visit and I hope that we will soon. All in all one the best holidays that we have had.
