Moors Edge Cottage description

Holiday home
Moors Edge Cottage is a very cosy single storey property on a working hill farm half a mile from the village of Rosedale Abbey. There are two bedrooms, both of which can be offered as either a double or twin depending on your requirements. There is a bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC. The living area (accessed via a split level floor) is open plan with a kitchen, dining area and a woodburner in the sitting area. Outside is off road parking, and a garden with furniture. With the moors, coast and plentiful attractions all easily reached, Moors Edge Cottage makes a wonderful country retreat.

Perfectly positioned for touring both the Moors and the Coast, the picturesque village of Rosedale Abbey is situated in the heart of the North York Moors National Park. Located in Rosedale, a beautiful valley of sweeping hillsides and breathtaking views, this lovely little settlement is surrounded by wonderful moorland countryside and offers walks in every direction. The village is home to the remains of a 12th Century Cistercian Priory - a stone pillar, staircase and sundial are all that remain – which gave the town its unusual name. The village is now largely made up of stone-built cottages clustered around the village green. Packed with local amenities such as shops, tearooms, an art gallery, a glass studio and three old country pubs, there is plenty to do without venturing to nearby Hutton-le-Hole, Ryedale and Kirkbymoorside.

The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

The cottage is in a superb location and the owner is very friendly. So much to see and do that 2 weeks was not enough, we will be definitely be back. The views from the patio were spectacular loved the fact that chickens, ducks and sheep were so close to the cottage. We spent hours watching the lambs, chickens and rabbits. We liked that there were walks from the door step. Our 3 dogs had a fabulous time.

The cottage was spacious, well equipped, comfortable, clean and a perfect base for exploring North Yorkshire and the moors. The views from the cottage were stunning. There was no end to the lovely walks across the moors. We would thoroughly recommend the cottage and area for anyone wishing to get away from it all and relax. We have already started planning to return later in the year.

Moors Edge Cottage is situated in a perfect position for exploring the North Yorkshire Moors. Lots of information provided by the owner who was always around if needed and very helpful. The property was spacious with comfortable sofas and beds and new appliances in the kitchen. We couldn't fault anything and if our ageing knees permit, we will visit again!

The property was exactly what we wanted, a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of life today - no WiFi or mobiles to distract from the magnificent countryside that surrounds the cottage. If it's remoteness you want this is the place for you. The owner of the property was friendly and helpful. The Cottage is ideal for dog owners, we took three and the stone floor was a god send after they returned from their many solo expeditions up and down the muddy hills.

The cottage was perfect for dogs and family. The flag stone floors meant the dogs could happily roam inside and out. The setting is idyllic with panoramic views. It was always warm, with the option of a log burner and under floor heating, you couldn't ask for more!

We enjoyed the remoteness and the scenery from the cottage. The wood burner was an asset on cool evenings! The owner was there if we needed her but otherwise was very unobtrusive. The cottage was good centre for touring the area and being dog friendly helped make the holiday worthwhile.

We liked the seclusion and away from it all experience. If you want an escape to the country you have got it. The view from the cottage was outstanding. It is ideal if you have dogs, because the cottage lends itself to you not having to worry about muddy paws on carpets because it has flagstone flooring. The under floor heating helps as well. The host was very welcoming and very friendly but not intrusive. Would recommend it to all our friends and family. Excellent holiday experience.

A fabulous location, great views across the valley and near to plenty of places to visit. Quiet and very good for the dogs. A lovely owner, very friendly and accommodating and welcoming - the underfloor heating was excellent for getting things dry quickly and the dogs loved it too! We are going again this year for a 2nd time so that must say something!

The location of the cottage was stunning and totally brilliant for anyone that wants to literally get away from everything as there is no mobile phone signal in the immediate area which was great. Lovely cottage, all elements were fantastic and we will definitely look to book up for a return visit as loads to do and see in the area that we still have not done.

We enjoyed the wonderful location and the views from the cottage. Also the option, given fine weather, of being able to sit out at the end of the cottage and enjoy the view down Rosedale. It is also a good location from which to explore the North York Moors.

The property was superb with everything you needed for a cottage holiday. Fabulous view of the Moors. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The cottage is in a good position to visit local places and also within walking distance of village amenities i.e. pub and tearooms. We will definitely visit again!

We stayed at Moors Edge cottage with our little dog, our second stay at this cottage. Its set back from the main road down a short farm track - mind the chickens and sheep as you approach the cottage! Its a real home from home for us with everything you could possibly want including a dishwasher. The underfloor heating and log burner guarantee cosy evenings whatever the weather. The views up and down Rosedale are amazing and the cottage is always spotlessly clean and the homemade bread and fresh eggs on arrival are fantastic. There are walks from the door up onto the moors, or down Chimney Bank into the village. Be sure to stop at the White Horse Farm Inn for a drink and something to eat - see another of my reviews. The cottage is situated in a lovely part of the moors with Hutton-Le-Hole just up the road and Pickering and Kirbymoorside not too far away. Annie is very friendly but leaves you to get on with having a lovely holiday, she is often to be seen buzzing around the hills on her small ATV! We have been for the past 2 years and have booked to stay again this year, a lovely cottage, well looked after in Gods own country - what more could you want?
January 2015
Perfect weekend getaway. Couldn't have asked for a better location. The cottage itself was a home from home with lovely finishing touches such as fresh home made bread on the table. Will definatly be visiting again! Absolutely loved it!!
