New Cumnock is a village in beautiful Ayrshire, which dates back to the 13th Century. The countryside surrounding New Cumnock is renowned for its beauty, with the river valley Glen Afton often visited by the Scottish poet Robert Burns, and the river Afton itself immortalised in song. Burns' visit itself has been memorialised in the form of a stone cairn and picnic area. There are stunning links golf courses in the area, including the seaside course at Ayr, the town which also offers plenty of bars, restaurants and a sandy beach. From castles to deerparks to walking, cycling and fishing, there is so much on offer in this lovely Scottish region.

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

The best cottage we have ever stayed in, everything we needed provided for us and welcoming owners.

March 2015
In a wonderfully quiet location with lovely views. A comfortable cottage which was warm and cosy, had comfy beds, a well furnished lounge and great kitchen. The owners were friendly and there were pheasants and dozens of other birds visiting the garden. In the field opposite the cottage were two Shetland ponies and bats flew around the garden at dusk - you could not ask for more. Will be staying here again for sure.

The cottage was excellent and well worth the price. Loved the log burner as we had frosty mornings, it made the holiday more special. Loved feeding all the little birds in the garden. Helpful friendly owners, I would recommend it to friends and family for a relaxing stay and value for money.

The owners were very friendly and really made a huge effort to make me feel welcome and explain where everything was. I do highly recommend Mote Cottage and the excellent and friendly owners made my holiday that extra special. They certainly know how to treat holiday makers with respect and privacy. Mote Cottage is outstanding, everything I needed, like a 'home from home.' Between the owners and Sykes, everything was perfect and easy. A huge thank you to everyone involved in making my holiday an amazing one!

A lovely quiet cottage set in beautiful country away from any traffic or the noise of a big city. Ideal retreat for anyone wanting to get away from it all. The use of the cottage garden was a wonderful idea and the children enjoyed the animals to visit. It was a good base for visiting Glasgow and the trip to Edinburgh didn't take too long either. Worth a stay.

This is a great cottage, spotlessly clean, very comfortable, and equipped with everything you need. We booked this for my husband as the fishing is outside the door, we could not have asked for more. Highly recommended.

Best BnB we stayed at during our 8 weeks travelling around the UK. The house was very comfortable and warm. Located centrally to where we wanted to be. Would definitely stay there again.
