Mount Cottage description

Holiday home
Mount Cottage is a charming barn conversion set on the owner's working farm in Tebay, Cumbria. With three bedrooms, the master with an en-suite, this cottage can sleep up to seven people. There's also a ground floor bathroom and a first floor open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area. Outside, there is ample off road parking plus a private, enclosed patio garden, a shared children's play area and walks to be enjoyed across the farm. There's also fishing available on the River Lune nearby. Mount Cottage is surrounded by spectacular scenery and offers a fantastic touring base for discovering both the Dales and the Lake District.

The charming old village of Tebay sits near the eastern fringe of the Lake District National Park. The village itself winds its way along the edge of the main thoroughfare and the traditionally whitewashed Cross Keys Inn has been there for 500 years or more. Along with its better-known neighbours of Kendal, Sedbergh and Appleby-in-Westmorland, the area is surrounded by lovely rolling countryside and beautiful scenery.

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

The house was exactly what we were looking for and was a super base for exploring the Lake district and Dales.

We had a lovely weekend and the cottage was great. It was well laid out so even though we were 7 plus a dog we didn't feel cramped at all. It was great to be so close to the river with some lovely walks. We felt we had really got away from the hamster wheel for a week end. The standard of the cottage was excellent. Warmer than my own house!

We stayed there with relatives for a few days. There is a rambling track down to the cottages - don't look down! The satnav takes you to the door, so is easy to find. It is very well equipped; recommend you take some extra loo roll and dishwasher tabs. Two of the rooms have on suite and the shower was lovely. Beds are comfy, could have done with a summer weight quilt as we were hot. The cottage was spotless and done to a high spec. There is WiFi and the connection was good. We liked the enclosed garden at the back as we took the dog so they could be let out without much worry. We did have the heating on on one cold day and it got nice and cosy. The M6 does run at the back but I didn't hear the road noise in the bedroom. The cottage was used as a base so it was wasn't a major problem. Beautiful scenery. Would go back there again!
