Gorgeous countryside and charming little cottage, furnished in appropriate Dales country style. Really appreciated the wood burning stove and the ability to buy extra wood from the owner. Great location and lovely quiet village with good local pub. Much needed tea and cake awaiting our arrival. Good value, super spot. My husband had a great time cycling and walking. We had a great holiday and would happily go back.

The cottage was very cosy and comfortable. The real fire was lovely in the evenings although the storage heaters gave off enough heat.

The owner made the house very homely on arrival. Greatly appreciated. Both the Crown Pub and Middlesmoor, serve delicious food and big portions too!

The beautiful, peaceful location. The quirkiness of the cottage. Two excellent pubs within walking distance! Good value for money, especially at New Year. The Christmas decorations were a lovely, thoughtful touch, very much appreciated.

We loved the location of Nidcot cottage in Lofthouse. It was a great spot to use as a base for enjoying the area. It was like living in a doll's house. We absolutely loved it. Lots of character and charm. It was well maintained and lacked nothing. It gave you a sense of English charm and the beautiful countryside in Nidderdale. The REAL thing. We would love to go back.

It beats going to work walking around the beautiful Dales. The cottage, village and the scenery are fabulous and we will be visiting again very soon. This is the second cottage we have booked through you and we have been very impressed with the service and standards of cottages.

This is a quiet, comfortable and well-equipped cottage in a lovely village. It's a great location for walking up and down Nidderdale, one of the loveliest of the dales. We'd love to return. The local pubs are friendly but you need to drive into Pateley Bridge for shopping.

This is a nice cottage and is well located in a lovely village and valley. Unfortunately we could not recommend staying here. The kitchen is below ground level and is cold and during our stay flooded during wet weather. We were unable to use any water and had to leave the cottage. The owner does not live locally and does not employ a local manager or professional cleaner. She secured a plumber to stop the flooding the day after it started but was then unwilling to personally ensure the house was clean and habitable for a further two days. She refused to provide us with any compensation for the inconvenience or for any of our lost holiday time.

We stayed at Nidcot cottage in Lofthouse from Sept 21st to Sept 28th. We landed in Manchester very early on the 21st, picked up our rental car and headed for the hills so to speak. When we arrived we had a little issue getting our key to let ourselves in.... our fault not the owners.. lol. It seems when it says to put the code in and lift the latch, you don't lift the door latch but rather the box the key is in haha. Silly us lol. We all had a good laugh. Thankfully a neighbour helped us. We were very pleasantly surprised to see, coffee, tea, milk and biscuits had been left out for us, which we thoroughly enjoyed after a long night and drive. Thank you !!! The cottage was clean and had a doll house like feel to it. We absolutely loved it. The views in the area are absolutely beautiful. The village of Lofthouse welcomed us with open arms and we made friends. I would highly recommend a meal or 2 at the The Crown Inn. We spent some time there and looked forward to our walk to the pub to see some regular faces. The food is good and the owners are friendly. Tell Clive and his son and wife that the people from Canada with the "blue stuff" send a big hello and hope to see them again. There is a gorge called How Stean Gorge, within walking distance if you like to walk or you can drive and park in the public car park. The gorge is one of the most beautiful and interesting places in the region. The scenery in the area is breath taking. If you are not from the UK be prepared to drive on windy, narrow roads. The cottage has all the amenities one needs to be comfortable and self sufficient. If you don't stop to buy groceries on the way, you can pick up a few things at the Post Office when it's open which is just a few feet from the cottage. There is no place at the cottage to be park so you park in a public car park which is not far from the cottage. Don't let this deter your decision to stay at Nidcot in Lofthouse. ( ref # 2516) We spoke to the owners who were very helpful and friendly. I would love to go back and take other family members to stay in this cottage. Thank you !!! I wish we had booked it for 2 weeks :-)

Travelled with my partner and two walking companions, used Nidcot as a base to walk the Nidderdale way. Cottage is small but cosy, well equipped and very peaceful. The local pub served great food and Ale and the staff and locals very friendly. Would not hesitate to return.

This cottage is great if you want a quiet bolt hole in the middle of the Yorkshire dales to get away from it all. It is a great base from which to walk or visit many of the local attaractions. The cottage is very comfortable, although it would benefit from a little more storage space for clothes. There is a good friendly pub close by, although you need to be there early if you want a meal without a long wait. Overall very good value for money.

Excellent location in the heart of the Yorkshire quite a distance from local towns the cottage is ideal for anyone wanting a walking holiday, whilst at the same time having a base to attractions such as Brimham Rocks,Fountains Abbey, Ripon Castle and the Black Sheep Brewery. The cottage itself contains all the necessary's needed for a week's holiday. Just worth a mention that I thought that the stairs to the bedrooms are quite steep and narrow and may not be suitable for people who do cannot climb stairs very well.
