Oldfield itself has a good local pub, and there is an 18-hole golf course in nearby Oakworth. Further afield are the elegant spa town of Harrogate, and the cosmopolitan cities of Leeds and Manchester.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

We had a wonderful time. The Cottage was very cosy. My wife and son spent some time enjoying the peacefulness staring out the rear kitchen and bedroom windows at the sheep. The wonderful views away from the Cottage were amazing. My son did not want to leave. Such a wonderful experience and we will stay here again.

Peaceful, rural situation but accessible. The property was very comfortable, well equipped and warm. We liked the fields with sheep viewed from kitchen window and the open fire.

As a spring holiday this cottage and its location was just right. New born lambs were playing in the field directly outside the kitchen window; so lovely. The duel fuel stove was a boon as the evenings were chilly. Although even without it the central heating was good. Although there is nothing like a real fire on a chilly night!

We stayed during a particularly cold but dry long weekend, and getting back to 2 Pickles Hill Cottage was a joy. A lovely snug property that warmed up quickly, and the added bonus of having a wood stove simply increased the pleasure. Getting up in the morn to make breakfast and be fronted by sheep staring into the kitchen was a marvellous feeling knowing we were far from the madding crowd!

The views and having the sheep outside the kitchen window really set the scene for being in Yorkshire. The cottage is in the perfect location to get easily to the dales and all the major visiting sites. Tea at Betty's in Harrogate should be a must on the list of things to do. All in all the most perfect week that will linger long in the memory.

We were greeted on arrival, given a cup of tea and a 'tour' of the cottage. We asked questions and were given good, honest, advice of the area and the best local hostelries. The owner was keen to ensure we had the most hassle free, relaxing stay and we appreciated that greatly. All in all an excellent place to stay with an outstanding welcome.

We received an excellent welcome from the owner. Our welcome pack included bread, eggs, butter, wine and even a lovely chocolate cake. The owner met us at the property and even made us a cup of tea before showing us around. We have never had this treatment before. A lovely rural location, with nice views.

This break was absolutely fabulous and the owner could not have been anymore welcoming or hospitable. She was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. I would most certainly recommend this cosy cottage to others. Its position also lends to great nearby walks, villages and facilities. Loved it!

The cottage was lovely, it was clean, cosy and well equipped. We were greeted by the owner, with a warm fire, cup of tea and a welcome pack, we were given lots of information about the local area; places to eat and visit. A really enjoyable break and I would have no problem recommending this property to family and friends.

Very nice cottage in a perfect location for exploring the Yorkshire Dales. It was easy to find using the postcode provided. We arrived in the afternoon and the weather all weekend was rain and thunder but this never put us off our holiday; if anything the cottage was very cosy with the wood fire roaring and the lightening outside and the rain lashing down on the windows. We did venture out to Blackpool, Scarborough and Skipton on the three days we were there. The cottage is very cosy with a real wood fire and fire wood was provided as well as the most basic supplies. Tea and cake was waiting for us upon arrival. The owner called us prior to arrival to wish us a nice stay and with instructions for collecting the keys. The place was very clean and comfortable. I would recommend this cottage to anyone and the owner was very friendly and helpful to us. We loved it! Real home from home; I just wish it were my home!

Tomorrow I leave No 2 Pickles Hill Cottage after a week long break. I have been here on my own but never once have I felt lonely. This cottage is not only built well and refurbished well, it has been kitted out with one word in mind - "comfort". It is so comfortable, like the whole cottage gives you a hug when you come in and doesn't stop till you leave. I am not one for fanciful writing or ideas but that is exactly how I have felt. I feel emotional about leaving, in fact I don't want to, but all good things do indeed come to an end. Haworth is lovely and it was great to be here when the steam trains were running and the place was full of life. 'Bronte Country' is just what you would expect - beautiful! Lush green fields rolling uphill and down dale, and oh those roads! They were the most challenging I have ever driven for they too went uphill and down dale. When my satnav said a sharp turn, it was not exaggerating! At one point in Haworth itself, I came to the top of a very steep hill and nearly passed out when I saw the 'give way' sign. I'm ashamed to say I gave way for the briefest second and flew across on a wing and a prayer all the while saying 'I can't give way'. Looking back at my week though all this added to the enjoyment although I will admit I did avoid that hill throughout the remainder of the week. Skipton was enjoyable and the canal was busy as the lovely autumn sunshine had brought lots of visitors, likewise at Hebden Bridge, a pretty little town. So a great week but without a doubt the highlight for me was No 2 Pickles Hill Cottage and returning to it each day was a delight.

We had a wonderful week in this very cosy and comfortable house. The owner offered us a warm welcome and we had already eggs, milk, butter and wine in the fridge and bread, jam etc. - a nice surprise. The landscape was wonderful with nice walks and pubs. In the house everything is clean, new and very comfortable. Absolutely perfect!

Fantastic place. But only if u like a middle of nowhere really(i do sometimes)The cottage itself is very nice and clean, has everything one would expect to and we find upon our arrival that we had all the essentials in the kitchen(tea, coffee, sugar, oil, some eggs, bread and Yorkshire jams waiting for us as well as bottle of wine chilling in the fridge. something that we did not expected at all. We had lot of firewood and the owner who lives nearby assured us that if we will need more, all we have to do is to call her-apart from that we had not seen her at all and had lots of privacy despite having neighbours. Lovely views, very comfy bed...something that i call a home from home.I am only writing this review now as i only got my account on trip advisor, but this place deserves some good reviews.. As i said-it is quite remote, but if u have a car(recommended-in fact it is a must) than no problems, there`s very nice and charming towns around(Keighley, Skipton, Bradford ) and others . And if u don`t fancy cooking, i highly recommend The Grouse inn:only few hundreds yards away, serving honest good pub food, nice drinks and all with breathtaking views of rolling hills. Very nice e and romantic vacation-is what we had

The cottage is perfect for walkers with plenty of nearby routes, plus a pub up the road serving good food and beer. There are good walks from the doorstep or a short drive away. It was well provisioned with everything you could need (not often we stay in a cottage that provides tea, coffee, sugar, washing up liquid etc.), and the cake waiting for our arrival was a bonus.

We had a great week-long stay at #2 Pickles Hill Cottage in Oldfield in January. The space is lovely and comfortable with a fabulous wood burner, the location is perfect for all the day trips we wanted to take to surrounding areas, and the property's owners were immensely helpful. We had a really nice time and will certainly return!
