I've stayed at this cottage several times before, as it's perfect for me and you always get a warm welcome from the owner.

The cottage is a few steps from an entrance to Allestree Park, which is huge and a wonderful dog-walking experience. Across the road is a pub serving food all day which allows dogs in. Blenheim Parade, with shops for food/newspapers etc is 5-10 minutes' walk and bus service is even closer on Duffield Road for Matlock, Bakewell, and more. The sports ground is 2 minutes' walk away for a short dog walk (and friendly dog owners galore). The owners are fabulous, with explanations of how everything works. Every cooking appliance is there so it is really a home-from-home and for TV addicts, there is not only the large flat-screen in the lounge, but also others in the kitchen and bedroom.

No 7 Allestree is a charming cottage, full of character and with everything one needs for a relaxing and comfortable holiday. The owners go out of their way to provide a warm welcome and to make their guests feel at home. It is the second time we have stayed in this cottage and we would have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

Had a really enjoyable holiday. A holiday is all the more enjoyable when you have a good standard accommodation. Number 7 is a special place. It's a home away from home, and spot on for transport and local shops. Even 2 miles from Derby city centre, it has a village feel. I enjoyed it so much I might even stop there again.

A really comfortable home from home and thank heavens a brilliantly comfortable king size bed, a spacious bathroom with a good shower and comfy chairs, including a recliner in the lounge. No shortage of TVs either! All set very near Allestree Park and ideal for dog walking. Wish we could have stayed longer. The owners were there to welcome us which was nice too.

October 2011
A great place to stay, a very nice cottage. The owners are a lovely couple. Nearby there is a lovely park for the dog, and great pub along the road which made you feel so welcome. All in all we would come back again.

October 2011
We received a warm welcome from the owners. Great location; easy to access the city or countryside. Cottage just great. We have paid more than twice this amount in the past for so-called luxury accommodation that was no where near this standard. People could learn a lot from the standard of No. 7 and the care and attention to detail. A TV times programme was even provided! Congrats. to the owners.
Miss Jennings

This was the 2nd time I've stayed in this wonderful holiday cottage just north of Derby city centre. Last year I was on a diet and couldn't accept the bottle of prosecco that the owners thoughtfully left in the fridge - this year, I could! :-) Not just prosecco, though - the owners leave a pint each of skimmed, half, and whole milk in the fridge, along with at least a months' worth of tea, coffee, and sugar (two kinds) for your stay. Too many holiday cottage owners cut too many corners - not these folk. Everything you need for a wonderful holiday is here, including more TVs than you can watch (lounge, kitchen, bedroom) and ample clothing storage in the bedroom. The 6* buses from Derby city centre will get you to Blenheim Parade (with a Co-Op, Tesco, newsagents, and more; a 5-10 minute walk to the cottage) or, you can take a TransPeak bus from Derby bus station to Duffield Road/Park Road, and walk up the Church Walk pathway (next to the fireplace store) to the CofE church directly opposite the cottage. The Red Cow pub directly across the road serves food all day long - and is dog-friendly inside and out - and nothing can beat Allestree Park for dog walks through woods, streams, ponds, and across the (18-hole) golf course. The southern access to Allesstree Park is just steps from the cottage's front door. (Note that food/drinks from Allestree Hall aren't available Mon-Weds-Fri.) Bakewell, Buxton, Matlock, and more are accessible via public transport or car for day trips. This really is a wonderfully quiet, tranquil, and dog-friendly cottage for all Derbyshire holidays.

September 2010
The cottage is in the perfect location opposite the church and pub. It feels like being in a village but it is only a 5 minute car ride to the center of Derby. The cottage was well decorated and clean. The owners were really helpful and had thought of everything to make the stay feel like a home away from home.

We arrived at the cottage and were met by the owner who gave us a lovely welcome. the cottage is situated in a prime position between derby and the peak district. we were there for a week and ventured out every day to see some stunning scenery or visit a stately home like chatsworth house. The cottage is pet friendly with a nice courtyard garden , and is just across the road from a country park where our little dog holly could enjoy some long walks. I would recommend this cottage.

This is the third time I've stayed in this property; as my partner and I don't drive, it's great to stay somewhere which is within walking distance of some shops, just across the road from a pub which serves food (very nice!) and also just round the corner from the very lovely allestree Park, which is perfect for dog-walking. The property itself is very cosy, with a lovely garden/patio area - and amazingly well-kept hanging baskets/plant troughs. I would definitely stay here again.

We were met by the friendly owners who went to great lengths to make sure that we were comfortable with everything about the property and the village. The cottage and garden was picturesque and immaculately presented, Everything we could possibly need was there in the cottage. What was surprising was the pleasantness of the location - only a couple of miles from Derby city centre and close to a large residential housing area, but here we were in the middle of a quiet and peaceful country village, with the church and pub just opposite - charming!
