Oakeley Mynd Loft Countryside Cottage description

Holiday home
Oakeley Mynd Loft is a cosy and welcoming studio apartment in countryside a couple of miles from Bishop's Castle. The apartment is in the grounds of the owners' home, and is accessed up eight external steps. The studio room has twin beds which can be offered as a super king-size double if required, a kitchen, dining area and sitting area with sofabed. There is also a shower room. Outside is off road parking, cycle storage, a patio with furniture and shared use of the owners' garden. Oakeley Mynd Loft is in a wonderful setting, with glorious views over the countryside and the attractions of Shropshire, Herefordshire and Wales on the doorsteps, including market towns, walking and cycle routes, stately homes, museums and more.

Area
The small and historic town of Bishop's Castle nestles in the south Shropshire hills, and is in an area renowned for its beauty and tranquillity. The town has a thriving weekly market as well as a number of independent specialist shops that offer a range of fascinating products. There are excellent pubs and cafes and two very good museums – the Railway Museum and the delightfully-named House On Crutches Museum. Bishop's Castle is the perfect place from which to explore this part of Shropshire. As well as enjoying all the opportunities for discovering the beautiful countryside, visitors can also explore the nearby towns of Ludlow and Shrewsbury. Other local attractions include the famous Offa's Dyke, the Severn Valley Railway and Powis Castle.

Region
A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.

The accommodation was very attractive, in just the right setting for a restful break. It was amongst the cleanest, best equipped accommodation I've stayed in, lovely all round.

Peaceful location. Well planned loft accommodation, and tastefully decorated. Great views from windows. Garden seating area available outside, we had good weather and this was a real bonus.

We absolutely loved staying here. The apartment was just lovely, and not at all cramped for 2 people. We had such good walks in the area. The owner was very friendly and welcoming too. We cooked in every night, had a glass of wine in the garden and despite me being very ill with a cold, had a great time. Very very peaceful and quiet. We will definitely be coming back again!!!

I stayed there with my partner for a week in March and we both had a really lovely holiday! The apartment is really cozy and comfortable. It had everything that we needed as the owners have thought of simply everything! They are really friendly and helpful people but without being in the least bit intrusive. The views from the apartment as well as all the countryside around there is completely breath taking! If you like walking you will be in heaven as there are just so many wonderful places to explore and when you need to pop into town Bishop's Castle is close by which is one of the friendliest little towns I've ever been to and so full of character. We can't recommend Oakeley Mynd Loft enough and it is very reasonably priced!

Just sat in the Oakeley Mynd Loft relaxing after just arriving today at 3pm. We were greeted by the lovely owners then heading out for a sunset bike ride to take in the beautiful views. It was a fantastic start to the ride as this loft is located on top of a hill so freewheeling for the first few miles was fun :) We got back from our ride, had showers and we both commented on how powerful the shower is. We've cooked tea and were very impressed with all the kitchen bits and bobs (foil, cling film, kitchen roll etc)! We've now relaxing on the comfy sofa watching cheesy Christmas tv and listening to the high winds whaling outside. The sound will certainly be sending us straight to sleep tonight. It's to tranquil here! I would highly recommend this place for cyclists! The big hill at the end of your ride to get you back up to the loft will certainly get your appetite going so make sure you've got the fridge stocked up!
