Holiday home Oaklea is a semi-detached single-storey cottage in the village of Ravenstonedale. The cottage has a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, a bathroom, kitchen and sitting room with dining area. Outside there is off road parking and a rear lawned garden with furniture. Oaklea is ideally placed for visiting both the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks, making it a great base at any time of year.
Area A small and compact village, Ravenstonedale has much to offer the visitor seeking a quieter experience than the nearby Lake District National Park provides. It is a pretty village; traditional whitewashed stone cottages and stone walls border the fields, whilst the Raven brook trickles by. St Oswald's church is largely from the Georgian era, comprising a solid structure with a simple square tower. In addition, there are elements from older buildings incorporated in it, and the base of a Saxon cross just outside. To the north of the church, excavations in 1920 revealed the foundations of a 13th Century Gilbertine Abbey. Ravenstonedale is a fantastic base for exploring the Lakes to the west or the Yorkshire Dales, just a short drive to the east. Those who prefer to stay closer to home can explore the Howgill Fells, the rounded hills which signal the start of the Lakeland ranges.
Region Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

The location of the cottage was very central. The cottage was also lovely and warm which was needed as it was cold. The owners were very friendly and helpful but also not intrusive.
A fantastic holiday, very relaxing. The cottage was lovely and clean and the owners were very welcoming, we hope to see them again very soon. Can't fault it.
Excellent location and a beautiful cottage.
The cottage was very comfortable and well appointed with very friendly owners next door. The cottage is in a delightful setting with Ravenstonedale being a very convenient village to explore both The Lake District and The Yorkshire Dales. There were many lovely walks from the village and two excellent pubs serving very good food. Will definitely be coming back.
Warm and cosy, very friendly owners. Within easy distance of the lakes and Yorkshire dales love to go again.
Our stay at Oaklea was first class. The cottage and gardens were lovely with every facility we could wish for. We would be happy to stay there again or recommend it to others.
What a find!
Friendly owners next door, 2 decent pubs (for beer and food) on the doorstep and Howgill Fells for walking in in solitude but being close enough to the village of RavenstoneDale for a quick return.
Just 8 minutes from the M6 too (rather than an hour or more trying to get into the National Park).
Would definitely stay here again.
The cottage was first-class and everything we wanted. Everyone was very friendly and made us feel part of the community.
Superb cottage, lots of space and very clean and tidy. Very good facilities and very comfortable. Owners next door, very friendly and helpful, and great garden space and local walks for our dog - labradoodle.
