The little hamlet of Pleasant Stile is situated just one and a half miles from the thriving village of Newnham, and less than 15 miles from the city of Gloucester. The village has a shop, Post Office and two pubs, and Newnham-on-Severn has more amenities, individual shops and traditional inns. Close by is the magnificent Royal Forest of Dean, and just a short drive away is the historic waterfront city of Gloucester and market town of Ross-on-Wye.
