One Sharp Lane Cottage description

Holiday home
This charming, stone built end of terrace cottage is located in the West Riding village of Almondbury. Fully renovated, this cottage is full of character and charm, offering ideal accommodation for couples and friends alike. With one double bedroom and one twin, the property also boasts a kitchen with dining area and a sitting room with feature fireplace and gas fire. Outside, the pretty patio area is ideal for relaxing after a day out and the cottage offers off-road parking and easy access to the local amenities.

Situated just three miles to the south east of Huddersfield, the traditional village of Almondbury is located amidst the beautiful south Pennine countryside. Steeped in history and retaining several notable buildings from as far back as the 16th Century, the village even appeared in the Domesday Book. The nearby town of Holmfirth is best known as the home of Compo, Cleggy and Nora Batty from the long running comedy series 'Last of the Summer Wine', whilst the Colne Valley, also close by, is home to fictional 'Skelthwaite' from the successful series 'Where The Heart Is'. Almondbury is well situated to offer beautiful countryside and great walking opportunities, and is within easy reach of the northern Peak District and the southern Dales. Alternatively, the historic city of York, elegant Harrogate, and vibrant Leeds are all close by.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

Gas central heating with gas fire. Electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge, washing machine, tumble dryer in cellar, TV with Freeview, DVD, radio/CD, WiFi, selection of books and games. Fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Off road parking 50 yards away in car park with roadside parking by the cottage. Small shared patio with furniture (walkway alongside patio is also accessible by neighbour). Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Shop 5 mins walk, pub 2 mins walk. The property is very tastefully and thoughtfully presented, with modern decor and furnishings of a very high standard. We visited during the winter months when the weather was not too good, yet the property was extremely comfortable. We will certainly re-visit 1 Sharp Lane and the lovely village of Almonbury. From a personal point of view, I would highly recommend this property to other couples.. Well done and thank you to the owner.

Lovely warm cottage, plenty of space for the two of us. The bedding and towels were beautifully clean and fresh smelling. Loved the size of the kitchen. Impressed by the owner's thoughtfulness in contacting me to give instructions and directions.

We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely little cottage, although it has no direct parking there is a small car park just across the road. The cottage was warm and comfortable and made us feel very welcomed.

The cottage felt like a home from home from the moment I arrived. It was very clean and freshly decorated, felt I could relax and it had all the essentials you need within the property. The property itself is in central Almondbury with great bus links to town. The location itself is quiet with local shops, a very good Chinese two doors down and a short walk to a fish and chip shop with very affordable prices. By the time Friday came I didn't want to leave and would love to stay again.

The cottage is more spacious than the pictures imply - plenty of space for a family of four.

Extremely nice property, warm and welcoming. All the amenities you require to a very high standard. Would have no hesitation in recommending to family and friends and would certainly return to this property in the future. Was an ideal base to visit the area.

The accommodation was very homely, not far from local shops and pub is a 2min walk from the cottage. Even though there is no parking outside the property, 1 minute around the corner is a reasonable sized local parking area for you to park your car and is very safe. In walking distance to Castle Hill, which has a large picnic area and amazing views of the county side. The cottage is very modern, the bedrooms are very spacious and the whole cottage is very clean.

I loved Yorkshire, such friendly people and beautiful walks. It was a really lovely house to return to, it was one of the best holiday homes we have stayed in.

Booked this place as a kind of last minute get-a-way for the Bank Holiday weekend. It looked nice on the photos but was even better in the flesh. Very nicely situated, just 5 mins walk from Almondbury village centre. Very well done out, traditional on the outside but very well appointed on the inside with all modern conveniences. Comfortable and very tidy indeed. The only problem really is that the Missus now wants to redecorate our own bedroon because it has given her "ideas". This place was great - just a 5 min drive from Castle Hill where the views are absolutely amazing. An hour from York and 30 mins from Leeds so you're able to experience the wonderful Yorkshire Dales and all modern conveniences (i.e. Shopping!) if you like.

Had a wonderful stay a One Sharp Lane. Extremely well appointed property. Everything you would need to make your holiday comfortable. Would like to compliment the owner on the high standard. We came up to watch the British Cycling Hill Climb Championships at Jackson Bridge (Holmfirth) and found the location of the property an ideal base. In the week also had easy access to Huddersfield itself and visits to Wakefield and Halifax. Never stayed in this area before but will certainly like to return and would genuinely recommend to family and friends. Only negative was no guests book to write a review!

Felt at home here, everything you need pretty much supplied, wifi, washing machine, cooker etc, if there's one thing I'd recommend its that some bath/shampoo product be supplied as it has been everywhere I've stayed. It's situated right near Almondbury village, so u have a newsagent, coffee shop, and a local co op. There's also 2 pubs and a takeaway just a few seconds down the street and an off licence and Franco's restaurant less than 5 mins away. Town is only 5-10mins on the bus or on a nice day you could walk into town 20-30mins (all downhill). I would definitely return.

We have stayed in various holiday cottages in recent years and by comparison to some, this comes out as "average". The property has a nice "homely feel" and is well equipped. It is also well situated should you wish to set out for the Dales. Our main concern was the light pollution we suffered at night; there is a large street light directly outside the main bedroom and as the curtains were relatively thin, light was a constant problem. Moreover, it was possible to hear traffic throughout the night, particularly if the window was open; this would possibly not be a problem in winter. We were concerned by the parking arrangement prior to travelling up to this cottage, but there is a patch of waste ground about 30 yards away which offers communal parking for various adjacent properties. A space is not guaranteed, but we had difficulty on only one occasion. The Wifi, incidentally, was excellent.

on arrival couldn't feel more at home the cottage was warm an inviting very nicely decorated with all the essentials you could ask for. The cottage is situated in a very quiet little village that has shops, local take aways, and the essentials. The village is a short distance from town buses run every 10 mins and offer various tickets if you wish to travel around yorkshire. By the end on the week I didn't want to leave felt so relaxed in the cottage, will be visiting again
