Our second stay at this idyllic cottage for a much needed end of year rest. Everything was as good second time around and I would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a getaway.

April 2015
The cottage was warm and comfortable and the location was perfect, idyllic and peaceful. The use of the orchard and surrounding fields, all safe and enclosed, was wonderful for both children and the dog. The welcome pack on arrival was a lovely touch and the owners were very helpful and friendly. Our short break just wasn't long enough.

A quality cottage in a quality setting. There is marvellous countryside all around and good walking from the back door. There was masses of useful, up to date information.

This holiday was everything we wanted, and more! The cottage was situated in a great location which was very peaceful and relaxing, even though another holiday cottage was next door, you wouldn't have realised. We couldn't have asked for more, it was ideal for the walk into Goathland along the old railway line and watching the steam trains passing by at the side of the garden, which were not intrusive. We would definitely return to Yorkshire and would have no hesitation in booking the same property, the best cottage we have stayed in.

The location is fabulous, the enclosed orchard garden is ideal for dogs and the inside furnishings are beautiful. All in all a fantastic holiday.

Wonderful relaxing holiday. The Cottage is very comfortable and warm and the internal layout with upstairs kitchen and living room mean great views and really added to the experience. The village of Goathland is close by and is beautiful. Would recommend this Cottage to everyone.

A delightful place to stay. The upside down arrangement was very conducive to enjoying the views and the open plan was great for keeping an eye on a young dog. The orchard garden was also good for dog visits as it is safe and contained.

Being in the perfect location for Whitby, Scarborough, Pickering, and of course Goathland. We also loved the fact that the cottage backed on to the railway. The steam trains every hour was lovely, my daughter enjoyed running over to the fence and waving to the train driver for which she always received a wave back. The weather could not have been better.

This was a new area for us, and it was beautiful. The cottage made a comfortable base for us to return to each day. The proximity of so many lovely villages, towns and beauty spots to explore was a big bonus. We were very lucky with the weather which made the holiday extra special.

Isolated location, but still within walking distance of Goathland. The North Yorkshire Moors railway running by the cottage was particularly nice.

The location was amazing- within spitting distance of the NYMR - simply brilliant, it gave the holiday a very special and unique feel to it. Therewere miles of open space all around us, no phone signal and no WiFi- even with 2 teenagers, this was the perfect place for a break away from the stresses of everyday life. The walking was gorgeous. The garden was great for our very lively cocker pup - entirely enclosed. We loved Goathland- just 5 minutes away by car. We found the local people very welcoming even though they must be used to truck loads of tourists. We felt a real sense of loss as we drove away on our last morning....Orchard Cottage was one of the very best holidays we've had. Fantastic place.

February 2014
Such a lovely place to stay. Very peaceful and quiet. Lots of space around us. Loved the great views over the train track and the passing steam and diesel trains, kids thought it was great. Our dog settled in well and enjoyed the panoramic view, lying on the lounge floor. Great place for walking and only a short drive from Whitby. Thank you for an amazing holiday.

Excellent location, well furnished with good lighting and heating. Lovely extra touches - pictures, books, lamps and games.
November 2015
Just returned from a three night break at Orchard Cottage with our dog. The cottage is beautifully restored, everything about it was perfect for us. The garden is enclosed and therefore safe for dogs and although the cottage is topsy turvy with the bedrooms on the ground floor and the kitchen and living area upstairs it's so nicely done, we didn't want for anything. It's situated perfectly for Heartbeat fans, only 1.5 miles to the Aidensfield Arms & the village. Nice little welcome gift of wine & milk in the fridge and a traditional Yorkshire Brack cake/biscuits......much appreciated & the wi-if is worth a mention as it was pretty good considering how isolated it is. We both slept really well, shower nice and hot, felt relaxed just being there and would like to recommend the Mallyan Spout Pub to eat in (dog friendly). Met the owners as we were leaving, nice to chat to them about their property in this beautiful area of the country. Highly recommended, would visit again (and Paddy the dog loved it!).

January 2014
The things that you don't really think about but actually contribute a lot to the atmosphere and comfort of your stay such as the heating and lighting were really well set up and easy to use. The location was fantastic for a relaxing break, and so close to other great places to visit. The owners left info on walks that you could do from the cottage which we really were appreciative of and they also left out some seasonal extras like a Christmas tree and a little welcome nibble.
April 2016
Just come back from the collage and have had a wonderful break. The garden is peaceful and scenic, the cottage is spotless and uniquely laid out (in a good way)....and there's a steam railway at the bottom of the garden, not near the garden, at the end of the garden! Superb! Its only 20 minutes from Whitby and Pickering and Dalby Forest is 15 minutes away. Its the only time my wife has told me she wants us to come back again....and that was within 10 minutes of getting there. Had a chat with the owner as well, really nice guy, very welcoming and helpful. Thanks so much and see you again soon.
December 2015
Fabulous cottage! Spotlessly clean! Very quiet and secluded. All made for a very romantic stay. Will definitely be back. Great location for visiting Heartbeat country Aidensfield (Goathland in real life) and Whitby for great fish and chips! Would recommend to anyone and everyone!!
September 2013
We stayed here for one week. The cottage is really clean and comfortable. Spacious upstairs living space. No bath, but a shower in the en-suite so did not pose a problem for a family. We stayed with our two young children (3 and 4) and found plenty to do in the surrounding area. Great walks, wonderful views and the timeless steam trains chugging over the Moors. We loved waving to the passengers! Cottage had it's own private garden which was secure for the children to run around in. We loved our stay here and hope to return again
April 2015
A great property in a tremendous location. Truly idyllic complete with a steam railway at the bottom of the garden, what more could you want! The cottage was spotlessly clean with all the amenities you could need. A 20 minute stroll takes you into Goathland and of course you are close to all the fantastic facilities of the North Yorkshire Moors. Complete with stunning weather, obviously not guaranteed!

Amazing cottage, so modern and spacious. Had the most amazing time! The walk to Goathland was gorgeous and seeing deer's on the walk back was just magical! The garden was a dream and the trains going by was amazing. The welcome pack was really welcomed after a late arrival, particularly the bottle of wine! We've booked again for a whole week in August, really can't wait!
