Owl Barn description

Holiday home
This newly renovated barn conversion is set next to a working farm in the beautiful Shropshire countryside, just four miles from the pretty market town of Bridgnorth and three miles from Much Wenlock. Decorated and furnished to a high standard, this one bedroom property offers exposed beams and oak flooring, a cosy sitting room and a private terrace with garden furniture as well as a flat screen television with Freeview and ipod docks. With lots to see and do in the surrounding area, this property is well placed for a romantic break away from the stresses of modern living.

The town of Bridgnorth is split into two very distinct halves - The High Town and Low Town - divided by the red sandstone ridge on which it is built. Connected by winding streets and stairs as well as the steep funicular railway, visitors can see what Charles I called 'the finest view in all the kingdom'. With a bustling Saturday market providing a colourful backdrop against which to explore the town and castle ruins, Bridgnorth is also close to the River Severn, offering many picturesque riverside walks. The Severn Valley Railway also runs nearby - between Bridgnorth and Kidderminster - using a variety of steam and diesel engines. Surrounding Bridgnorth is a wealth of country parks, great houses, museums and Shropshire villages, as well as easy access to the Royal Air Force Museum at Cosford, Ironbridge Gorge, Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Church Stretton.

A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.

A very comfortable and well equipped barn conversion done to a high standard. A quiet rural location yet with easy access to a main road. We only had time for a short break but wished we could have stayed longer. We were pleased to be able to bring our dog.

Set in beautiful countryside near to a farm. Lots of birds and animals. Very close to attractions such as the museums of the Iron Gorge and the town of Bridgnorth. Pubs and restaurants were relatively close. A very good place to get away and relax!

Owl Barn is a beautiful place. It's location is perfect for visiting so many places. The owner is a lovely welcoming lady who we met just as we arrived. The barn itself was just right for 2. Set in a courtyard of similar holiday lets. Only a couple of things marred our stay, first one being I had to clean the fridge before use as I think it had been overlooked. Secondly I think maybe a sign asking children not to play in the car park, especially football. Our car was hit only once but it did make us on edge for the rest of our stay. The place is kept in tip top condition by the caretaker and our small garden was a lovely retreat to catch what sun we had. We would go back again and would definitely tell folks about it.

Absolutely lovely cottage, in a perfect location. Very clean and comfortable. The most AMAZING beds - never had such a good nights sleep! It was ideal for what we needed - just a weekend away from it all. The only downside was the lack of any sort of personal touch. After a 4 hour long drive, we were rather hoping to have a cup of tea / coffee on arrival only to find no milk / coffee there at all (this is something I've found to be pretty standard at holiday cottages). Also - no soap / handwash in the bathroom or kitchen - we found this a little odd too. Handwash is not something we normally feel we need to pack! Nevertheless - a wonderful short stay, and wouldn't hesitate to return.

Owl Barn was just what we were looking for in Shropshire. Small but modern accommodation that also was happy for dogs to stay too. All home comforts were provided for. The bed was comfy and there was plenty of storage space. We particularly liked the enclosed 'garden' which was great for letting the dog out. Location was rural and quiet. I guess the only down side was not being within walking distance from a pub for evening meals. However, with Much Wenlock just a short drive away - everything you could have wanted is just on your doorstep. A week's stay was very reasonably priced. Don't hesitate to recommend Owl Barn or adjoining properties.

A Really great place to stay out in the middle of the country, quite and peaceful. A really warm and welcoming comfortable cottage, with everything you could need. Shrewsbury is a great place to visit for the history and the architecture. Telford for a great shopping centre. Another Great Place to visit is Ironbridge. Overall a Great Break away from City Life
