When we arrived to spend the Christmas period at Paddock Barn, the wind was strong and the weather was very cold indeed. When we opened the door, we not only stepped into a beautifully decorated home but it was warm and welcoming. To top it all, there was a large Christmas tree and other decorations. We all had a wonderful Christmas.

April 2016
One of the nicest cottages we've stayed in, plenty of space for the children to run around, great play room and the accommodation was finished to a very high standard. The children are already nagging at us to go back! There were plenty of activities and days out within a short drive. The heating and log stove were both very effective. I would highly recommend the cottage and the area.
Mrs Mitchell

We had a fantastic time, the Barn became a home from home with all the things you expect and some you don't such as the sheer size. One of the best aspects was being able to sit and enjoy an early morning coffee whilst looking at the views from the kitchen.
Mrs Smith
May 2015
The property was far superior than we expected and was converted to a very high standard. The property was extremely spacious with an abundance of hot water and the heating was on when we arrived. There was plenty of information on the surrounding area and all conveniences e.g. places to eat and supermarkets were within easy reach.

A beautiful property and surroundings in a very lovely village. Friendly locals and wonderful areas to visit all made for a fantastic weeks break. The surrounding countryside to our property was stunning and very peaceful. Definitely a great place for a rest or for a family with children, a great place to let them run free! The sheep in the fields were very cheeky!

Paddock barn was one of the best cottages we have stayed in. 10 out of 10. A home from home that accommodated all the family. The owners had thought of everything. Set in a lovely quiet road with just a few houses. It was our first visit to the area and we hadn't realised how lovely it was. Lots to do and places to visit. Good walking area too. Have no problem in recommending Paddock Barn to our family and friends. First class.

Paddock Barn was excellent. Welcome pack brilliant. Clean and welcoming. A home from home. A great choice for visiting the area and surrounding areas such as Durham, the Lakes, Angel of the North, Beamish, Yorkshire etc. Would recommend it and intend to go back. 5* all the way.
June 2013
Unfortunately due to my hesitation in booking this property I could only book for one week instead of two. I was worried that if we did not like the property two weeks is a long time. From the photos I thought the house was on a main road it's not, the road has very little traffic mainly neighbors cars only. It is in Hilton a tiny little village and we drove past the turning a few times. Walking into the cottage we were immediately impressed it was almost like we were the first to stay there. It is large and modern. Cleaned to a high standard. The double bed in master bedroom was comfortable which I have to say is very unusual, I normally have to go out and buy a foam pad. I regularly rent houses in the north of England and this is the best I've experienced. The area is very quiet, the only noises are from the farm animals. Did not hear neighbors. Tesco's and Sainsburys about 5 miles away. No free wifi nil available. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
Mr Barrett
January 2011
The property was spacious and comfortable with an excellent games room. It was well located in a quiet rural hamlet, but close enough to larger towns. Well equipped on the whole and very pleasant. Good first impressions.
September 2012
We can highly recommend this cottage and it's lovely location. It was great to receive a hamper on arrival, just what we needed after a long drive. The cottage had everything you could possibly need and so clean...wonderful. We have stayed in many holiday homes but this was one of the best. Lots of info of where to go and what to do

This is an outstanding property which has 5 star features. There is ample space for a family and the garden is excellent for children. The welcome basket was divine. Everywhere was so clean. There are lots of places of interest to visit nearby without having to drive for miles. As I wrote in the guest book....simply perfect.

What a lovely place. We had all the comforts that we needed and more. We were partly snowed in during the time that we were there but we were able to relax and unwind, including spending time with our daughter and her family. The locals, including the owners, were lovely and made us feel welcome. We would definitely like to return in warmer times in order to walk some of the paths in the area.
October 2011
Excellent accommodation, loved the kitchen dining area. Extremely well presented interior and in a fantastic location, our 1 year old loved seeing the cows next door.
