The Three Peaks Walk, Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough are all close by and offer some of the most challenging walks in the country, whilst the famous Settle-Carlisle Railway passes through the village itself and incorporates the Ribblehead viaduct, completed in 1870. The market town of Settle offers a wide variety of pubs and restaurants and is situated nearby whilst the local Victoria Hall acts as a cinema over the weekends and offers other activities such as folk nights throughout the year. Natural attractions such as Malham Cove and Gordale Scar are also within easy reach, along with the nearby Dales towns of Skipton and Malham.

November 2015
A fantastic cottage, perfect for walking the 3 peaks. Loved the size of the rooms and the 2 fireplaces. There was no problem fitting 6 people comfortably, the kitchen is a great size and with the wood burner and table in the middle we spent most of the time in there. Since the weather was so horrible we really appreciated the fact that there was space to dry wet kit. Would definitely go back.
Mrs Fowler

Overall excellent, we would certainly return to this cottage if visiting the area again. The owner had considered all their guests needs and catered for them down to a welcoming bottle of wine. The property was warm and comfortable and had a feeling of homeliness.

The location is great for the Yorkshire Three Peak challenge. The house is deceptive, as it looks small on the outside but it is large on the inside and the games table was fun on a rainy day. Highly recommend a stay here.

Perfectly situated, clean, surprisingly spacious, very good value, very well equipped, friendly neighbours - I could go on. My particular favourite was the courtyard garden which is a real suntrap in the early evening. Ten out of ten for me.

This is the second time we have stayed in this cottage and it is ideally situated for our needs ie; walking and touring the Yorkshire Dales. We were extremely fortunate with the weather and most evenings were able to sit out in the back yard with a refreshing G T watching the birds and the sheep in the fields whilst planning our next walk!

The house was excellent. In the brochure it mentioned there is noise of cars being as its on the main road. We found it pretty well sound proof, with hardly any noise coming in. The condition of the property and all extra bits outstanding, I have recommended this property to many of my friends. We had a wonderful time and are looking to see when we can go again. 10/10

There was so much space. We particularly enjoyed using the wood burner and spent more time in the kitchen than the lounge because it was so cosy. The view from the main bedroom on to Pen y Ghent was amazing. It exceeds its current rating by at least another star.

February 2008
We were very surprised with the standard of all the furnishings and decor - all modern and obviously very new. Didn't feel like a holiday cottage at all. Perfect place for cosy nights by the fire and ideally situated for doing Pen-y-Ghent.

November 2015
We have just finished our 7 nights stay at this cottage and would really recommend it. Not only was it extremely well kitted out with a dish washer, washing machine, tumble dryer, log burner and open fire it also unlike most other holiday cottages didn't have notices everywhere telling you what you could and couldn't do. We felt completely at home in the property and after a cold rainy day walking in the dales couldn't wait to get back to it! Extra appreciation for the endless supply of coal and kindling provided along with a welcoming bottle of wine. Overall a very pleasant stay :)

This is a really great cottage with a fantastic kitchen, very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The neighbours were friendly and helpful and it is ideally situated for the Three Peaks and getting around the Dales. The courtyard garden is a real sun trap in the afternoon/evening. There are two pubs in easy walking distance, and lovely walks right from the door. The only downside I can see would be parking outside the cottage at the height of the season, but we were there on the Challenge weekend and had no problems. Easily the best cottage we have ever been to.

April 2014
We've nearly finished a weeks holiday to this cottage and don't want to go home!. The property itself is really well equipped and feels like a home from home, the beds are very comfortable (the four poster is AMAZING!) and the bath is perfect after a days walking / cycling. Even when we had a rainy day our daughter was never bored, the games table is fantastic and there is a wide variety of books and DVDs for all ages - the Hammer horror collection kept my dad entertained! The kitchen has everything you could possibly need and the cooker is fantastic. The surrounding area is beautiful and very scenic, we had some lovely days out in Hawes, Asygarth, Settle, Morcambe, Skipton and we took a trip out to Arncliffe - be ware of the country roads though, we had some hairy drives on the way there!! And of course there is the beautiful Pen - Y - Ghent which can be seen from the front of the property. We visited both pubs, had food at The Crown, beautiful home cooked food at reasonable price and they had a wide variety of drinks available. Although there isn't a shop as such, there is the Pen-Y-Ghent cafe which served breakfasts and we visited the mobile shop for essentials but a quick trip into Settle and we found Booths which had everything we needed. Overall a wonderful property set in a beautiful location - would definitely recommend to all our family / friends.

It looks like a small terraced cottage, but it's plenty big enough for six, three double bedrooms but only one bath. Large kitchen/diner and lounge. Small back yard for sitting out and a good view of Pen-y-Ghent to the front. Right on the Pennine way, two doors down from the Pen-y-Ghent Cafe

I booked the cottage becaus myself and 3 others had decided to do th Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge, so the location of the house was perfect. The owner of the cottage could not have been more helpful when I phoned her prior to my stay - she gave me a weather report and told me what to expect on the walk! Inside the house was even better than I was expecting - the kitchen is huge and had everything we needed and more. The cosy living room, fully stocked with all sorts of Dvds and books was perfect for relaxing in after our very long walk! I really felt at home in this lovely cottage and I hope to stay there again some time.

April 2010
Excellent, large well equiped property, had everything needed for a fantastic holiday in the Dales. Owners, although never met them, left well written instructions and a lovely cake to welcome us. Log burner in the kitchen and open fire in the lounge gave the property that extra special feeling upon returning from long days out walking. Prime location for tackling the 3 peaks, plenty of places to vist, ideal central location. Had a fabulous holiday and will be booking again soon.

We had a really lovely weekend break at the cottage. The cottage was warm and cosy and had everything we could have needed. We loved the Old Peculiar at the pub on the bridge and the warm fire. Would stay again in this cottage and also would visit Horton in Ribblesdale again.

An excellent cottage to be thoroughly recommended. Very well furnished, equiped and comfortable,a true home from home. An excellent library and collection of good DVD's for those rainy days or cosy nights in. Also, the owner has very thoughtfully provided maps and guide books for daily use on your travels. Stunning views across to Pen-y-Ghent from the front and for the rail buffs, the famous Settle to Carlisle Railway to the rear. Local amenities good especially The Crown Hotel which is the better pub of the two in the village. There is also a small shop for those small items needed day to day. Cottage is central for exploring The Dales and The Lakes. Also ideally placed for some "serious" walking especially "The Three Peaks". In short we would definately return to "Pen-y-Ghent view" again.
