Myself, my husband, our 4 year old son and our dog stayed here for Christmas week and were delighted with the cottage and its secluded location with amazing views (weather permitting!). The owners had decorated the cottage with christmas decorations very tastefully and there was a lovely real christmas tree too :)
Aside from a few niggles with ceiling leaks in kitchen and porch area during strong winds and rain we couldn't fault the cottage for comfort, space and style. The kitchen is very impressive and I loved the new range cooker so much I would've smuggled it home in our car if I thought it would fit lol! ;) The only improvement would be a bigger fridge freezer. The bedrooms are very spacious with lots of storage however there was no hair dryer provided so had to improvise with the little electric fan heater instead. Our son loved having his own ensuite shower room but wasn't impressed with sharing his room with 'the strange man in the corner" which well & truly spooked me out for the rest of our stay lol! If i was to be really picky, the only room which could do with renovating slightly is the downstairs shower room as it doesn't quite compare to the other very stylish bathrooms.
Our dog loved Pembrey beach splashing in the sea and chasing the birds :) in fact it's probably the best holiday he's ever had! He had a great time playing footie in the garden too, although it might be worth noting that the fencing here is only post and rail so any mischievous doggies or kids could still escape.
It might also be worth mentioning that due to its position on top of a very long, steep mountain that the local pubs/restaurant are not really walkable unless you are super fit and don't have any young kids in tow. We drove to the Ashburnham Hotel for lunch one day but they had to close due to an electrical fault so we tried the pub next door which was very dated and disappointing. I don't think there are any decent places to eat/drink in Pembrey at all, according to the cottage literature the nearest place is in Llanelli.
Overall a fab holiday in a fab cottage with a FAB hot tub! On a clear night, star gazing in the hot tub is an absolute must! Just a shame the local village isn't a bit more appealing to make it the perfect holiday destination.
