Post Office Cottage description

Holiday home
Post Office Cottage is a good quality and well equipped terraced property in Tindale Fell. There is a ground floor single, a first floor double with an en-suite shower room, and a first floor room with a super king-size double which can be offered as a twin if required, and an en-suite bathroom which can also be accessed from the landing for use by the ground floor room if occupied. There is a ground floor cloakroom attached to the utility. The kitchen has a dining area and a woodburning stove, with a second woodburning stove in the sitting room. Outside is off road parking, and a garden with patio and lovely country views. Post Office Cottage makes an ideal base for family or friends throughout the year.

Area
Ideally placed for exploring the Lake District and Eden Valley, the attractive, rural village of Brampton boasts a pub which serves good food, and is just two miles from the historic town of Appleby. Situated in the heart of the lush Eden Valley, Appleby-in-Westmorland was originally the county town of Westmorland and is a major stop on the Settle-to-Carlisle Railway -one of the most beautiful train journeys in Britain. A vast number of these old steam trains travel along this famous line and over the awe-inspiring Ribblehead viaduct, giving patrons a chance to see the landscape from a whole new perspective. People who visit Appleby in July will experience the Jazz Festival – an event that is fast becoming a popular attraction – whilst throughout the year guests can enjoy a walk on the Pennine Way at Dufton or explore one of the local cycle trails. Pooley Bridge, Penrith and the Lake District are all within easy reach, making this is an ideal holiday location.

Region
Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

Just returned from a very relaxing week staying at the Post Office Cottage, don't hestitate to book as it will not disappoint. High standard of amenities, great location for walks, would recommend going to Talkin Tarn (only a 10min drive away), Hadrians Wall and for a bit of shopping Carlisle is only 30 mins away. There are also various woods etc.. especially if you have a dog who likes exploring like ours. We wanted a dog friendly cottage and this exceeded our expectations, they have thought of everything from having a dog crate to a dog towel. We received a warm welcome from 'Sharon' who conveniently lives next door if you have any issues/questions, she had even made sure the cottage was lovely and warm for when we arrived. We were provided with coal and wood to use for the two log burners which came in handy and were very cosy. We will definitely be booking again and cannot wait to go back!

The cottage was lovely to stay in, real home feel there. Just a few issues, we were told the heating would be on 2 hours prior which it wasn't. Also had to pay for more logs and cola which we weren't told about. Other than this service was good. I would recommend wifi being put in. Great for the dog he loved it!!

Post Office Cottage was fantastic. It was very well equipped with everything including a water bowl for the dog if needed and a towel which was great. There is nothing that we needed whilst we were there that this cottage didn't have; fantastic.

A very beautiful clean cottage in a very peaceful location. The beds were very comfortable with good quality bedding. We all slept so well. It is the perfect retreat if you are in need of peace quiet. The very helpful housekeeper was next door and not intrusive, she is there as a wealth of knowledge if you ask for it. Highly recommend this cottage if in that area again will definitely return.

Post Office Cottage was a great place to stay and in a lovely area. It had everything we needed. Also as it was so close to Scotland we managed to have a trip there. As we had not been there before that was good to be able to do.

A wonderful property in an ideal location. The cottage had everything we needed and nothing was too much trouble for the caretaker who lives next door and looks after the guests. The surrounding area was of outstanding beauty and at the end of the day we had a lovely cottage to return to. We would recommend this property to all.

This was one of the best holiday homes we have stayed in. Not only was the cottage absolutely beautiful, with lovely countryside all around, the neighbours, particularly the owners, were so friendly and helpful and helped us settle in. We could not recommend this cottage enough.

My family & dog have just returned from a 3 night break over the bank holiday. We ended up at Post Office Cottage because the original property we booked through 'Sykes cottages' cancelled on us 2 days before departure due to an apparent faulty shower. What a result that we found this beautiful cottage! We had never stayed in this part of Cumbria before so wasn't sure how it would be. It was lovely! Such stunning scenery & pure peace, just what we needed. Loved watching the tiny lambs coming right up to the back garden fence! The owners were great & arranged with the lovely housekeeper next door to expect us late on the Friday night so they had the cottage cosy & warm for when we finally arrived! For 2 of the nights we got the lounge log burner going, incredible amount of heat that comes off it for such a long time too, and we had an abundance of logs/coal & fire lighters, it was gorgeous on the very cold evenings! I had read a review about someone being upset at having an electric heating allowance. Personally we had no issues at all, we had heaters on when needed (our daughters bedroom constantly) & were never cold once! I guess it just comes down to individual heating needs. I think the allowance is more for people to be aware & not to forget to switch electric heaters down/off when going out etc (like we would at home). It's always a challenge finding a luxury cottage that accept pets too without paying massively over the odds, but this cottage provides it perfectly. It's been very well thought out with the design, loved the dog crate, blanket & bowl provided! The only extra it didn't have was wifi. This is of course not something everyone needs, but for us it was vital for our lifestyle. The owner confirmed she was having it put in the following week so once it's in it will be absolute perfection of a cottage. Really enjoyed our break and can highly recommend!

The cottage had been renovated tastefully and to a very high standard. It was very comfortable and it felt that all our needs had been anticipated. The area was interesting and it was close enough from home (approx 2 hours) to make it a real possibility for a weekend break.

Family next door who look after the cottage were lovely. Close to Hadrian so we completed the Wall. There were great views, a great pub down the road and a great change to Lakeland! Lovely master suite with dual aspect windows and the garden at back ideal for catching evening sun or al fresco eating.

The booking procedure was simple. The welcome from Sharon was warm and friendly with just the right amount of information; we also felt that we could call in for extra advice or help if needed. We felt utterly at home immediately as the cottage itself was absolutely lovely and beautifully prepared. If you want easy access to amenities then this probably isn't for you as they are an short car journey away but if you want peace, comfort and lovely surroundings where you are away from the daily grind it is perfect. The location is ideal for access to countryside, coastline, the lakes and pretty villages. There are proper country walks for those who are able but also easy access walks are nearby for those less able.

We all really enjoyed our stay, incluing our dog, at this lovely cottage. Cosy and warm even though it snowed most days. Great location but need a car. Found a great Pub for food, where we could take our dog, Kirkstyle Inn about 10 mins drive away. Would definately recommend this cottage and Pub.

We stayed at Post Office Cottage August bank holiday week. The cottage is a luxurious get away in some of the most beautiful countryside in England. Everything in the cottage is of a very high standard, from the comfortable bedrooms with the views across the hills, to the family size kitchen and the the cosy sitting room both with log burners should the evening turn chilly. Haidrians wall is a short drive away if you like a bit of history,as there also many other historical sites. For those who like walking, you just have to put your boots on, open the front door and head out. There are easy walks on the flat and more strenuous walks across the hills. There is even one walk that is in easy distance of a very good local pub. A well deserved drink or meal after a bit of exercise. There is an excellent trout fishery a short drive away plus coarse fishing at a local tarn. We cannot recommend Post Office Cottage enough.

It was better than the description on the Sykes site. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed to make our holiday a great experience. The caretaker and her family were very friendly without being overpowering.

The cottage was lovely in the photographs but even better in real life. The standard was excellent. We were warmly welcomed by the neighbour and it was clear that we could call upon her for help if needed. We were able to genuinely relax and chill out.

I stayed at the cottage with my partner & my parents and I can not fault it one bit. Beds were lovely and comfortable, very spacious, beautiful views & anything we needed Sharon was on hand to help. Nothing was a problem & she made our stay a pleasure. Overall the location is nice & peaceful but close enough to the town if you need shopping or to go out for meals. Would definitely return

Excellent accommodation. The log fires gave it a lovely homely feel. I also loved the peace and quiet.
