Puddle-Duck Lodge description

Holiday home
Puddle-Duck Lodge is a single-storey lodge by the lake in South Lakeland Leisure Village. The lodge has a king-size double room with dressing room and en-suite shower room, a twin room, a shower room and an open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area. Outside is off road parking for two cars, a balcony with furniture and use of the grounds. Guests can purchase passes to the leisure facilities for use of the indoor heated swimming pool, steam room and gym, or why not relax in the on-site pub and restaurant? Puddle-Duck Lodge is well placed for enjoying the Lake District National Park and Yorkshire Dales.

Situated just a couple of miles from Carnforth on the border of the Southern Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales is the South Lakeland Leisure Village. Combining superb countryside and a coast with a rich and fascinating history, this beautiful area is mentioned in the Doomsday Book. Built in a former quarry, the South Lakeland Leisure Village provides top quality accommodation in the form of Scandinavian Log Cabins and is set around a large lake over 10 acres of land. The 17th Century farmhouse serves as the main club and provides a variety of facilities including an indoor swimming pool, gym and steam room. There is also an onsite Tapas bar, Italian restaurant and bar. However, the pretty villages that surround the resort also offer a number of traditional pubs.

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

The lodge was fantastic; well equipped, very clean and modern. The views across the lake were excellent and waking up seeing the lake in the morning and having breakfast by there was a lovely change. The location is ideal for exploring the Lake District and the site is good. We particularly enjoyed using the swimming pool with our little girl who had lots of fun swimming, playing and riding her bike.

The Lodge was very comfortable with lots of storage space and stocked with everything we needed (and more!). The lodge was very comfortable and like a home from home. It was very clean and beautifully decorated . There were excellent views over the lake and it was a perfect location but you do require a car. The park was peaceful and relaxing with first class food from the waterside restaurant.

We've just returned from a fabulous week staying in Puddle-Duck Lodge. We really can't fault it, the lodge is in a beautiful setting which is perfect for families and is very relaxing and tranquil. The facilities on site are great and everything you'd need for a short break; the pub offers really good food at great prices and the pool and gym are brilliant. The lodge itself was spotlessly clean and absolutely beautiful, it far exceeded our expectations. The location of the lodge is ideal for days out and within easy reach of many places we went to explore for lovely days out! I can't recommend Puddle-Duck Lodge highly enough, we really were very sad to have to leave and come home!

Absolutely stunning Lodge. The owner takes great pride in the presentation of the Lodge and it shows. It was beyond immaculate and very well equipped. Puddleduck Lodge is an excellent base for touring the Lake District, North Lancashire, and the West part of Yorkshire. The lodge is truly excellent and one of the best we have stayed in. An extremely nice touch was the welcoming flowers displayed in a vase. Well done to the owners for making it not just another holiday let.

The lodge was very lovely, comfortable, light and airy, quite stunning located on the waters edge and overlooking the lake. We liked where it was situated at the end of the lake which gave a bit more privacy. We loved the name too Puddle Ducks, very apt.

July 2013
It was lovely, I wish I could transport the lodge home with me and live in it. It was decorated really nicely, very modern and clean. I am disabled and I coped with it really well. The bed was really comfy, in fact I was reluctant to get up every morning. It was the best I had slept in ages.
November 2015
My dad and I decided on a winter break for a change so we could visit the Lake District and we liked the look of Puddle Duck Lodge from the start. It might look small on the outside but it was surprisingly big inside. We enjoyed the views across the lake from the many windows in the lodge and we were visited each night by rabbits! There is a large open plan living area with dining facilities, lounge and kitchen. The kitchen was well stocked with cutlery, dishes and condiments, and there was hot water available at all times. For cooking you have the choice of oven and microwave along with a large fridge and freezer for the food you might want to bring. The entire lodge has a huge amount of cupboard space with each room, plus a small selection of games, books and dvds. We were happy to find a drawer full of leaflets for places to visit which we made use of as well as a useful welcome folder. I was worried that I might find it cold, the way caravans can be in winter but the lodge was very cosy to return to after a cold day of sightseeing. There is adjustable central heating and a fire in the living area which is very warm so you need have no worries about being cold whenever you visit. The beds were comfortable and we slept like logs for the entire week, plus the bathrooms were spacious. I have no complaints about anything in the lodge and we both very much enjoyed everything that it had to offer. Carnforth is just a few minutes drive away where you can find Tesco and Aldi which is very useful if you don't plan on eating out. You are also close to several other shops and petrol stations and just a few minutes from the M6. We used the lodge as a base to visit all the main lakes, various wildlife places like RSPB Leighton Moss and Lakeland Wildlife Oasis which are short drives away on the A6, plus the Lakeland Motor Museum at Newby Bridge. We didn't have time to see everything we wanted so on our next visit we have the options of various nearby towns, the Cumbria and Lancashire coasts and the Yorkshire Dales. You are spoiled for choice with places to visit! Perhaps if we choose a different time of year we can do some boat trips on the lakes. This was a really great holiday. We were lucky to be there from the 20th-27th so we avoided the flooding and storms. Yes it was cold at the lakes but we were well wrapped up and the weather was never going to get in our way! We really look forward to our next visit to the area next year and we certainly want to stay at Puddle Duck Lodge again!
January 2015
Stayed in August 2014 and had an amazing holiday! Accommodation was very well presented and very modern. The lodge is directly on the lake with lovely views and plenty of ducks for the kids to feed. The Lodge is only a short drive away from Carnforth and a little further to Morecambe where there are plenty of things to entertain the kids. We didn't eat at the pub on site but did eat at the Canal Turn in Carnforth which was very good. This is a fantastic place to stay at a very reasonable price and we had such a good time we booked up immediately for next summer.

April 2014
We spent a long weekend at Puddle Lodge and had an amazing holiday. Beautiful Lodge, completely exceeding our expectations. Perfect location easy to get to and really handy for the Lake District. The lodge is so comfortable, the owners think of all of the little details making it a real home from home. We were really sad to leave. We had such an amazing time, we have booked another week there in October! Would highly recommend it to anyone!
August 2013
High quality furnishings throughout the lodge including top quality kitchen and bathrooms, although beware very bright early morning sunshine in master bedroom! A blackout blind would be a good addition. Prime position overlooking the lake. Welcoming touches on our arrival. Delightful decking area. Excellent swimming pool (charge per use) and restaurant. Traffic noise from motorway is present, but not intrusive. You are some distance from the main Lake District locations, so you will need a car.
