Comfortable, homely cottage. Fabulous village and plenty to do.

This is the second Chatsworth property we have stayed in and both were excellent. The standard of refurbishment, the furniture, equipment and decoration were all of a high standard. Good off-road parking. Excellent value-for-money break.

We had a wonderful couple of weeks, the cottage was lovely and very well equipped. Beautiful setting and lovely walks from the front door, lots to see and do and two weeks was really not enough time. All in all a lovely holiday and we hope to return.

We particularly like the total peace and quiet at Redhurst Cottage and the fact there are so many fabulous walks from the village and you don't need to drive to get somewhere to start a walk.

A very warm welcome from Steve when we arrived at this lovely cottage on a cold windy evening. There were four humans and two dogs staying here for Christmas. Lots of lovely walks, albeit some in a very cold wind. The cottage is so cosy and warm (we actually turned the radiators off at times). We were possibly a little over ambitious in cooking Christmas lunch in a strange kitchen. The cooker was somewhat temperamental and there was a lack of some rather basic equipment - a large jug and a couple of wooden spoons would be good - but hey - it was Christmas and we got there in the end. We did have a bit of trouble with keeping one of our dogs out of the bedrooms because neither of the doors would close - one only closed from the inside as it is warped and the other wouldn't close because the bed was in the way. Still we solved this by putting a fireguard across the stairs. All in all though we really loved it. It was clean and comfortable in a lovely area and we would recommend the whole complex to anyone. Also the local pub does a very good pint.

The cottage is a nice and comfortable holiday home and great if like us you have dogs and young children. The cottage is well equipped, although a dishwasher would have been a welcome addition for us, but it does have a washer drier and reasonable well equipped out kitchen. Sadly, there was no stairgate available. There was always plenty of hot water when we stayed and I imagine winter stays would be comfortable with modern central heating and the added joy of a wood burner for extra cosyness! There's a dog friendly pub just across the road and while we didn't eat there (too much hassle with young children and dogs!) I believe it has a good reputation. When we did pop in for a quick drink the landlord was very friendly and hospitable. If you like going out walking, this is an ideal base with plenty of walks in different directions from the door and loads more just a short drive away - I recommend buying a decent OS map of the area. The nice old fashioned market town Ashbourne is a 15 or 20 minute drive and has plenty of shops and supermarkets. Buxton's not far the other way. If we do return to the area in the near future we'll defiantly return!

Cute cottage in a lovely village within walking distance of the village pub - and dogs allowed, a bonus for us.
