Rinnachurry House description

Luxury House with Magnificent Sea and River Views.
In a raised spectacular but secluded setting, in 4 acres of private grounds overlooking the Atlantic at the River Moy Estuary, this 4000 sq ft house is a creative remodel of the 150 year old original house, providing large contemporary light filled living spaces. The main living room on the first floor is a magnificent 6X9m room with high ceilings and large windows all around affording 360 deg views over the estuary as it joins the Atlantic.

On the ground floor, the spacious open plan kitchen, dining and living area is light and airy with large 10 foot (3 m) windows & natural oak floors. Ideal for entertaining; fully equipped modern kitchen with breakfast bar, large dining area seating up to 12 and sitting area with TV corner. French doors lead off to the large terrace and extensive gardens and grounds. There are 3 bedrooms; two doubles, one with en-suite bathroom, a twin bedroom with two single beds, a further family bathroom and laundry/utility room.

Ideal as a luxurious get-away or a base for touring Ireland's West and Northwest with its beautiful coastline and many archaeological sites including local historic Abbeys at Moyne, Rosserk and Rathfran and the Ceide Fields Neolithic site. The local picturesque village of Killala with its 12th centuary Round Tower and small fishing quay (7 min) has several shops, a supermarket and several pubs, some with great food and music. Ballina (12 min drive) has more facilities including swimming pool, leisure centre and gym, cinema and many restaurants. A fisherman's paradise with local deep sea and shore fishing, lake fishing at Lock Conn and and the famous Moy river for salmon. Several local quiet and unspoilt Blue Flag beaches at Ross, Lacken & Enniscrone; great cycling and walking on quiet country roads and mountain biking and hill-walking for the more adventurous. Horse riding and tuition are available locally. Golf is also popular with a course at Ballina and famous links course at Enniscrone and Carne in Belmullet.

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home. The house is so spacious and comfortable and has a real sense of tranquillity and closeness to nature. There was no better way to round off a day than with a glass of wine in the upstairs sitting room enjoying the magnificent view over Killala Bay. This is a great location. The local beaches are beautiful and you have them all to yourself. We particularly enjoyed Ross and Enniscrone (the sheltered back-strand at Lacken is a secret I am almost reluctant to share) and the drive to get there is nothing short of spectacular. My husband loved golfing at Enniscrone and the wildness of the Carne course near Belmullet. We enjoyed cooking at home (good fish shop at Killala harbour) and had really good food at the Ice House in Ballina and Stella Maris in Ballycastle (the location of both right by the water is very beautiful. Mary's in Ballycastle is excellent for a simple lunch - home cooked food with local ingredients. We also had some enjoyable day trips to Westport, Clare Island and Mulranny and did some great walking as well as kayaking in Lough Conn. The house was spotlessly clean and when we arrived we were welcomed by Ann who was gracious and helpful. We highly recommend this house to anyone planning a holiday in this very beautiful and unspoiled part of Ireland.
