I like the electric metal front gates, made us feel secure, also while my son runs around in the extensive lawn I don't need to be there with him like while I'm cooking. Parking is the space next to the glass doors, within the compound, very safe. I like the glass doors, it brings the garden in while you're sat in the living room, same for the kitchen. The chalet is newish, clean, spacious and beautifully presented. The owners Jim and Tina are kind and warm, even lent my son a football because we forgot to bring his. Shottery is a quiet village, perfect for getting away from the city. The chalet is just 5 mins walk from Anne Hathaway's cottage and about 20 mins walk to the high Street of Stratford upon Avon through a leafy path, so we never brought the car to town, and had never to worry about parking and time. Four days of the week we explored the North and central Cotswold, the farthest, Bourton on Water was just 45 mins drive from the chalet. The little villages were quintessentialy English and not touristy. The market towns are charming. And everywhere walking among houses of the honeycoloured Cotswold stones is a feast for the eyes and soul.
