A wonderful riverside retreat, this detached cedar wood cabin sits at the head of the River Tanat in Llangynog. The cabin is contemporary and well-equipped, with a double bedroom with king-size bed, stylish shower room and an open plan lounge with massive picture window which really lets the outside in, and allows guests to enjoy the unique riverside setting all throughout the year. There is a decked terrace with furniture, which is likely to prove irresistible on a warm summer evening. Head to the coast, an hour away, or stay inland to explore the majestic mountains, enjoy the exhilarating watersports or potter around the local area.

Mid and north Wales, and the rolling Shropshire countryside are all within an easy drive.

From the moment my partner and I arrived we were impressed with everything, it was perfect, just what we were looking for. We found it so peaceful and tranquil watching all the wildlife from the large patio doors, it was truly amazing. I really wished I had booked for longer as it was a lovely cabin with everything you could need, a perfect little retreat for my my partner and I. We will definitely be going back in the Summer next year.

The owners were very friendly and helpful. The setting is excellent, it is in a quiet and peaceful spot. It was one of the cleanest properties we have stayed in. The sheets and towels are good quality and many little extras are included and were appreciated. We liked the layout of the property and parking is excellent.

It was in a lovely, quiet spot, with fantastic views. The huge patio doors were a wonderful touch, providing constant views of the countryside and wildlife. Everything was provided to make it a very joyous, relaxed holiday, including private parking, which was great. The Owner was lovely, and very helpful. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending River's Nest to friends family.

The property was very compact, well fitted out and comfortable. Everything you might need was provided - excellent. If you love wildlife then this is the place for you, we even saw otters - wow! If you're hungry, The New Inns is the place, meals are huge and good value for money.

A lovely property in a peaceful, tranquil setting. The owners were so helpful; even before we left home they emailed all information to us. We knew when and where to contact them if we so needed (which we didn't) but they were not at all intrusive. The chalet was beautifully refurbished and very clean; we would certainly recommend.

A fantastic self-catered cabin in a very tranquil valley - Charming hosts. The location is really great for getting to lots of places of interest in the surrounding area including Stoke-on-Trent, Chester and even a day trip out to Anglesey. Can't wait to book another holiday there.

All as promised and more. 5 star property and venue with helpful but unobtrusive owners. Peaceful and quiet. Lots of nature and birdlife to see just from sitting on the patio next to the river. Beautiful scenery. Local people friendly. Good value and plentiful food available within a five minute walk at the local inn. Many good walks available within a few minutes radius. Local beauty spots abound and more available within 15-30 minutes drive in all directions. A piece of paradise at a very reasonable price. Everything provided - Egyptian cotton towels/flannels/sheets. Only need to provide own food. Would highly recommend.

We went on this holiday to just chill out and Rivers Nest turned out to be the ideal place, it was very tranquil and peaceful by the river. The surrounding area was very picturesque and the wild life wonderful. We had a fantastic week and enjoyed every moment. The New Inn serves amazing food but beware only go there if you really are hungry ..the portions are very large!

August 2010
Another fantastic holiday with Sykes. This property, although compact, was fabulous in all aspects. The situation was idyllic - how fabulous to get up and sit watching the wildlife whilst sipping your early morning tea. If you want a holiday with shops and touristy things, hustle and bustle then this isn't for you - if you want to go back really relaxed then Rivers Nest is ideal.

Just like to say had a wonderful week at Rivers Nest with my girlfriend Sandie, the setting was idyllic. Mike the landlord was very caring making sure we were ok during the storm we had. The chalet was immaculate and equipped with everything we needed. Set in the most beautiful position right on the river with the double glass fronted doors framing the amazing vista. There is so much wildlife to see, trout, dippers, nuthatch, pheasants, squirrels to name a few (no otters sighted unfortunately) but the icing on the cake was to see two huge salmon swimming upstream just off the patio, they were at least 5-6lb. Thank you Mike and Val, we will be back for sure.

I was looking for relaxing, stress free, peaceful and home from home place to stay after a very stressful 7 weeks for my partner and myself and after looking at other cabins and area's i came across this lovely little cabin in Wales, for some reason i was drawn to it and just knew i had to go, i booked only 3 nights and wish i had stayed for longer it was perfect, from start to finish, from collecting the keys from the lovely Mike to forgetting to tell him and his lovely wife Val where i had left them when we said goodbye !!! went to quick i have only just got home and i miss the tranquil beauty of the view from the cabin and the people that live there, will defo be going back !!!!

Sit overlooking a small stream and watch the birds (nuthatch, dipper, jay, greenfinch, pheasant and blue tits to name some), or look at the sheep and cows as they come down to drink, or stare into the water and identify the same fish who stay at the same spot day in day out and wait for food to arrive on the current. The view is also wonderful. A five minute amble gets you to a pub with a warm friendly welcome and good food. We did not walk up into the hills but we did drive over to Bala a few times stopping on the way to take in the views. A break we will be repeating in the not too distant future.

Splendid location. Loved the stay. A small cottage but with all basic facilities, just like home. The village in itself is well located to roam around the region. We were the first to stay with an infant and we are thankful for it. Pity we can't come back for some years, since it would not be suitable once our baby is grown up. Best place for couples.

A wonderful little lodge, which was perfect for two. Mike and Val have made it very homely. It was a lovely touch that tea, coffee, sugar, washing up products and loo rolls where all ready there for you. The lodge is super warm, in fact we had to turn of one the radiators as it got too warm! It is finished to a high standard and the bed was super comfy, we've never slept so well. The view from the lodge is breath taking, and North Wales is just stunning. A perfect weeks rest for us and so quiet. Can't wait to visit again.

The owner is a lovely man who took time to show us all the features of this lovely little cabin - and don't be fooled by size it has a lot of features! Space has been used so cleverly we had no problem with stowing all our bit and pieces. The kitchen has everything! Bowls, sieves etc etc so cooking was a pleasure not a chore. It was lovely to have such a nice range of Dvds for the evening too! Although you could easily spend hours just enjoying the stunning views and watching the birds and other wild life (there was a particularly feisty cow who visited each evening - no problem to us but she seemed to love headbutting the other cows out of her way!)

The location of River's Nest is great. It's quite mesmerising to sit and watch the babbling river. We saw Dippers, Goosanders and even a Nuthatch. According to the visitor's book one or two had seen Otters, but we weren't quite that lucky! We had to make an effort to go out - it was so easy to sit there all day! River's Nest itself is very comfortable and well equipped and even tissues are provided. It is also lovely and warm if needed, so I wouldn't hesitate to go back in the middle of winter. I think the lounge would benefit from a larger coffee table as it seemed a little small to us. There is limited space in the bedroom for storage - so if you go travel light.

This was my first stay in a cottage and it was absolutely perfect. The accommodation was great, it had everything that we needed. Very clean and modern, fully equipped. The views were spectacular and this cottage could not have been in a better location. The sound of the river right outside the door was very relaxing. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We hiked various trails and the experience was amazing. We were very sad to leave and we still miss it. We felt very safe and welcomed.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The cabin has all you need. Its not very big, but has lovely cotton sheets, its very clean and basics (tea, coffee, sugar and loo roll!), washing-up liquid etc., towels and tea towels are all provided. Great parking. The owners are friendly and Mike is very helpful (I'm sure Val is too but we only met her once). The location is in a very peaceful valley, little traffic (none by the cabin) and spectacular views. The main reason to stay here though is the view from the cabin. Right by the river, we spent hours watching the cows, the sheep and the antics of the lambs and we saw so many birds we had not seen before. (Mike and Val provide a book for identification).
