The house was warm, well equipped, comfortable and gave very good value for money. There was a wealth of information about the area; where to eat etc. We will certainly recommend this property to friends and family and would consider returning at a later date.

An extremely lovely property which was very, very tastefully furnished to a very high standard and obviously very well loved by the owners too. We didn't need use of the top two bedrooms but two or three times I just popped up to look at them as they are done out so lovely. You should be proud to have this property on your books.

We were a party of four who had travelled from various parts of the country to enjoy a relaxing break in Whitby. Our first impressions were good and continued in this fashion throughout the length of our stay at Rockton House. The house felt warm and inviting right from the word go and its location just five minutes walk from the bustling town centre was very convenient.

A great place to stay, it was close to town, immaculately clean, well decorated and had very comfortable beds! Our 4 year old daughter loved it, as did our Jack Russell. Guest needs were well catered for with books, DVD's and board games. Would definitely recommend to others and hope to stay again.

The cottage was in a superb location, very close to the harbour, shops and restaurants. The owners have clearly spent a lot of time and effort to get the house looking and feeling very welcoming and we felt very much at home here. There was plenty of information about places to visit, both local and further afield, along with a very good selection of books, DVDs and games. An excellent cottage and we would thoroughly recommend this to anyone wishing to visit Whitby.

The cottage was just like a home from home with everything you could need provided. Local amenities just a five minute walk from the door, perfect for exploring the local town, and within easy reach of many site seeing opportunities in the local area.

Great value here with this beautiful gem of a house. The living room was sumptuous and spacious with the wood burning stove a central feature, there was also a well stocked log pile. The dining room was elegantly furnished as were all of the bedrooms. Particular attention has been paid to the lighting with LED's in the kitchen and all other rooms fitted with dimmers - a very nice touch! The large free standing bath and walk in shower help sooth tired bodies following lot's of long walks - A house you wish you could take home - a special place.

Stayed at Rockton House in June for a week. Found the property delightful, really tasteful, clean and very welcoming. It is obvious the place is well loved by the owners who have chosen the furnishings very well and have also matched the character of the property perfectly. It has everything you need to have a very enjoyable stay. The owners have left lots of useful information of recommended places to visit which we enjoyed finding on our travels. Its is a a few minutes walk into Whitby and close to all the amenities, many pubs and restaurants. Two dog friendly beaches in Whitby which was good. Whitby itself we found also to be very dog friendly. Parking was never a problem at the property we managed to park nearby all the week with no problem which was ideal. As others have said it is top of a hill which helped keep us fit...Would highly recommend this property and very much hope to return.

The house is very warm and comfortable. Loved the wood-burner and the Victorian bath. Great standard overall.

Easy, friendly and efficient booking service via the Sykes team. 1st experience of using them and would definitely use again. Rockton house was well situated with supermarket 5 minutes walk away (but steep uphill return for those with poor fitness or disability) Delightful house, spotlessly clean and very well equpped. Loved the deep bathtub and the woodburner. Faultless

This mid terraced house is a short walk from the centre of Whitby, down bank! So be prepared for the up bank coming home! There is road side parking as the streets including this one are surrounded by terraced properties but we didn't experience any issue, parking outside to drop of our stuff and then finding a space a few streets away.. There is a local shop, butchers, fish and chip shop within a five minute walk.. The house itself has been lovingly restored and has some original features like sash windows. It is modern inside and spotless, a gate provided to stop yr dog going upstairs and everything you could need is in it.. It is warm and homely and has an enclosed back yard area. It was quiet despite being in a populated area and had the benefit of a log burner which I would imagine to be very cosy in winter time. The owners had provided lots of information and we used it to enjoy walks in the area. This is a lovely part of Yorkshire and for a convenient location close to amenities it is great!!!

Lovely home with many features. The cosy lounge with wood burner must be great in the winter months. The lounge is well appointed with a leather suite, TV + add on`s and original wood floors. The dining room is spacious with a dining table that could seat eight people. We liked having access to a wide range of books/DVD's and games that were all accessible in this room. Information about the home and an `Out and About` guide was extremely useful. The well designed kitchen was fully equipped and easy to use. The quality of the utensils/crockery was pleasing. We ate out on the back patio most breakfast times...what a sun trap! On the next floor was a huge bathroom with complimentary toiletries which covered all your needs. The shower was powerful and free standing bath had a quaint traditional feel, but again was huge. Again this had such a homely feel. The double bedroom was gorgeous with a four poster bed. It was so comfortable we did not want to get up in the morning. Wardrobe was spacious, which in some holiday homes can be limited. On the second floor there are two more bedrooms, a double bedroom and room with single beds. Both rooms were lovely. We could have walked in this home with nothing but a suitcase of clothes...everything else was taken care of. Already booked for next year with the family. it really is a `not so little` gem! Whitby was full of historical sites, lovely restaurants and spectacular scenery, particularly on the coastal walk to Robin Hoods Bay. Now we have found such a wonderful place to stay it will ensure we return more often than first intended.

When I was a young boy in the sixties I lived in house almost identical in layout, but without the excellent and tasteful fittings and furniture the owners have installed . Unlike many holiday accommodation's they have not opted for old cast offs and jumble sale tat, but bought new quality items, the kitchen is well appointed and the bathroom and shower is better than most quality hotels, the living room with log burning fire and leather furniture is warm and very comfortable. Altogether a great place and location to enjoy time in Whitby, very well done and thank you to the owners. My only adverse comments, the parking is as advertised "first come first served" but not insurmountable and there is no internet, but the house still won out.
