We traveled with our son, his family, which included two 16 year olds and a family friend. We all agreed the cottage was wonderful. It was large enough for 7 people to have space to themselves and to get together for meals, games or a little television watching. The kitchen was well appointed and had everything we needed. The surrounding countryside was beautiful. We enjoyed watching the sheep, the quiet and peacefulness of the area. The shops were a distance but no more than from our rural homes in the U.S. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms plentiful enough that no one had to wait. The cool weather was excellent for sleeping and the wool blankets kept us comfortable. While most places we wanted to visit were a distance from the cottage, there is no denying the cottage was a welcome sight when we made it back and so much better than a hotel room. We enjoyed playing games at the dining room table. The need to herd sheep several times to leave or return to the cottage will become family lore and I'm sure will be exaggerated with each telling. We learned they respond much quicker to a person than to a vehicle. The price was reasonable. We wanted a more 360 view, which was blocked by some overgrown bushes along the garden fence, but then we don't know what is behind the bushes so maybe they are overgrown for a reason. The restaurant at the Dundonnell Hotel is excellent. Avoid the rude owners and poor food at the Chinese take away in Laidd. All around a great place for a family vacation.
