Quiet lanes and off-road trails make the area ideal for cycling, and the sign-posted 60 mile ’Round the Island’ cycle route passes through the village. The unspoilt west coast beaches, including the secluded, sandy bay of Compton is within a 10-minute drive, and plenty of outdoor pursuits including sailing, fishing, golf, cycling, paragliding and watersports can be found locally. Within easy reach are many tourist attractions, including the Needles, Blackgang Chine, pottery painting at Chessell, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Calbourne Water Mill, Dinosaur Isle, Carisbrooke Castle, Osborne House, The Garlic Farm and many more.
