Seagull’s Nest description

Wonderful sea views
Boasting wonderful sea views and ideal for fans of Foyle’s War, the ITV World War ll detective drama series, Seagull’s Nest is ideally situated - right opposite Foyle’s house! Filming was done from the doorstep. Several guests look for how and where this iconic TV series was produced, with several other places in and around Hastings also featured in the show. Situated in the heart of the picturesque Old Town, Seagull’s Nest has sea views from every window and is within easy walking distance of the beach. Visit Smuggler’s Adventure, Underwater World, Hastings Castle, the Blue Reef Aquarium, Shipwreck Centre and Fisherman’s Museum at Rock-a-Nore, or the prestigious Jerwood Gallery which is located just minutes away. To the east is the majestic cliff coastline and views across the English Channel - the East Hill Country Park is a 5 minute walk away, with miles of interesting, varied walks and is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Rare bird, plant and wildlife species can be found there as well as wonderful views, walks and places to explore. Fairlight Glen is a 2½ mile walk, each way along the clifftops, the coastal path then continues to Rye. 1066 Country is a holidaymakers delight with so much to see, do and discover. Visit Battle, Rye, Brighton, Lewes, Bexhill, Pevensey and Eastbourne, or take the train to London. Plenty of English Heritage and National Trust properties within driving distance - Bodiam Castle, Scotney Castle, and Batemans - Rudyard Kipling’s house. Alternatively, try Battle Abbey, Camber Sands and Herstmonceux Castle. The famous gardens at Great Dixter, and also those at Merriments and Pashley Manor are nearby, and not far from these, there is Bodiam Boating Station and the steam railway next door. Pett Level and Winchelsea are within a few miles. Or just wander about Hastings’ fishing beach, with its colourful boats and traditional beach-launched fleet. Hastings Old Town and St Leonards down the road both have art galleries, pubs, restaurants, cafes and quirky bric a brac and antique shops. There are many memorable events throughout the year, including Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras), Jack in the Green, Pirate Day, Old Town Week, Carnival Week, Seafood and Wine Festival, Coastal Currents Art Festival and the famous bonfire night in late October.
