Sherauchie Pet-Friendly Cottage description

Holiday home
Sherauchie is a lovely, single-storey cottage in Southerness. With four double bedrooms, two with en-suites, it sleeps eight comfortably. There is also a bathroom, a kitchen and a sitting room with electric fire. Outside there is off road parking for four cars and to the rear there is a patio garden with furniture. Sherauchie is just a short walk from Southerness beach and harbour, making it a wonderful seaside retreat for families and friends.

Established in the late 18th century, the village of Southerness looks out over the Solway Firth and forms part of the Colvend coast. Home to two pubs and a village store, the seaside village also boasts two miles of sandy beaches with dunes, rock pools and warm Gulf Stream waters, as well as one of the oldest lighthouses in Scotland. Built in 1748, this beacon was one of the first in the country. Nearby Criffel Hill is an impressive 569m tall and offers varied walks with wonderful views of the farmland and the sands of the Nith Estuary. The Southerness Championship Golf Course is definitely worth playing for its panoramic views of the Solway Firth, the Cumbrian Lake District and the Galloway Hills.

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

Oil central heating with electric fire. Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, TV with Freeview, DVD, CD, WiFi, selection of books, games and DVDs. Fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Off road parking for 4 cars. Front courtyard, rear patio with furniture. One well-behaved dog welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shop and pub 5 mins walk. Beach 1 min walk. Note: This cottage is next to a static caravan site. Note: Max 8 guests inc. infants.

Liked everything; the place, the setting, the whole area of Scotland that we got to visit plus we had amazing weather which was the icing on the cake. Will definitely go again, maybe next year.

Weather was fantastic and cottage was lovely. Found plenty to do in surrounding areas. Cottage was just as advertised, very clean and modern and a lovely garden to sit out in the sun. Camp site nearby was very clean and well maintained. Couldn't have had a better holiday, would definitely go back there.

Stayed here with family and friends whilst celebrating my husbands 50th Birthday, also visiting family in Dumfries for the week. This house is amazing, and loved every second of my time here. The owner had left us flowers and a bottle of wine, lovely touch. The house had its own guest book, which is full of lots of positive comments , unfortunately I forgot to write my own. This house is well equipped with everything you need, although the pans have seen better days, but I'm sure lots of guests probably eat out. The bathroom is fantastic. My only negative would be the bedroom sizes, they're very small doubles., but now I know how small they are it wouldn't stop me from returning for another visit . The area is stunning and we were very lucky with some fab sunshine, ate out a couple of times and the John Paul Hotel, reasonable and decent choice., they also showed the football which kept the boys happy !! Will definitely return providing the price isn't going to shoot up !! I'm surprised there aren't more reviews for this property, it's a hidden gem :-) x

Lovely holiday home and would recommend to friends. Stayed for a week with my husband, our two boys and parents. Well equipped with everything you need. Lovely spacious and bright lounge/diner with plenty of seating and kitchen with utility room. 4 (small) double bedrooms, 2 with en-suite shower rooms and the main bathroom is lush (that was mine)! Small shops for essentials within 5 mins walk however have to travel further if you want to do a larger shop. Lovely surrounding areas to visit. Owners have made this property into a lovely home-from-home holiday let and the flowers, wine and Easter eggs on arrival were a lovely touch. Thank you. We even grew fond of the monkeys in the lounge!! :)

Lovely house, comfortable, well- furnished, warm, bang on the coast. Great bathrooms. kitchen excellent apart from lack of big enough pots to cook for 8. (landlady said other guests all ate out/ carry-outs but we like cooking!) Please check website as I think it said 3 doubles and 1 twin bedroom. It actually is 4 (small) doubles. Landlady very helpful over misunderstanding about bedrooms. Highly recommend.
