Stayed with 8 friends - loads of room, plenty of plates, glasses, cutlery, plenty of seats etc. Well appointed, modern looking and conservatory a fabulous centre piece for dining with our friends. Hot tub has loads of jets, raised with a great view - it is a bit treacherous however trying to get back to the house as no outside lights.... This is a great place for a group of friends to meet - plenty of room, modern, warm and homely feel.

A very clean, comfortable, well presented bungalow. The views are stunning and the whole holiday was very relaxing.

It was a fabulous place to stay. The main living area had a real wow factor! The kitchen was the best equipped kitchen we have ever found in a rented property and the hot tub was a real luxury. The place feels very private and the local pub made us very welcome and we celebrated the family birthday with a delicious supper and entertainment. The area was a great place to explore even in the winter with some spectacular seascapes. We would definitely like to go back.

Skygazer's Rest is very spacious and clean. Beautiful conservatory and plenty of places to relax. Hot tub was lovely with sea views. The outside areas must be great in the summer but as we went in December we didn't manage to make use of them. It was a perfect place to celebrate my parents golden wedding anniversary .

The overall look and feel of the property was fantastic. The garden size was great for kids and dog to enjoy, The hot tub was wonderful and the conservatory a joy to spend time in. The DVD selection was excellent and the choice of books great for a longer stay! Overall there was plenty of space and the quiet location was just what we were looking for.

To be honest, the photographs on the Sykes website don't do it justice - it's cavernous and way exceeded expectations.

This is a relaxing and beautiful cottage. The log fire really sets the scene in the evenings. Very happy with this holiday and will definitely be going again.

Loved the property - it was well appointed, had loads of plates and glasses, loads of space and the conservatory became the central place for us all. It was so quiet inside despite wind howling outside. I would like to book again for next year.

We loved how open the property was. The open plan was brilliant as all the family could be together and the hot tub was the icing on the cake. We would definitely book this property again.

Beautiful bungalow, the jacuzzi was the highlight for us as was the large table in the conservatory where we could all sit and eat together.

First impressions of this property are good. Previous reviews show this, however for us it became apparent fairly quickly that this property has issues. We has two main issues with the property 1. A broken bed 2.A window that you couldn't shut. In all fairness the problems were quickly dealt with by the owner who was very pleasant and once he had been made aware of the problems he arranged for a locksmith and a new bed to arrive the next day,( on arrival I spoke to the locksmith about the patio door not shutting very well). The owner told me he had not visited the property for several months and I'm afraid this was obvious. However what I didn't expect was the a lady named Alison who i believe is the cleaner coming round on the day the bed arrived and informing me that she had just finished work and "could do without this!" She went on to tell me there was nothing wrong with the patio door on Friday

I have just returned form a weeks stay here with my wife and father. The cottage is located about 15 minutes from Bude in a small village called 'Shop'. There is not much in the village itself, but there is a nice pub called the bush about a 5 minute drive if that which served nice food and decent Cornish ales. The cottage itself is a good size, not too hard to find and has a large driveway to park in. The master bedroom is very big, with a superking bed and a bathroom - this is a roll top bath, basin and toilet which is separated from the rest of the room with a thin curtain, not an issue but just make sure you are comfortable with your partner or you might want to use the main bathroom. A nice feature is that the bedroom has patio doors out onto the decking. The master bathroom is again, a decent size with a shower. It does seem like the shower tray might need some new sealant, but it doesn't cause a problem. The kitchen is well equipped with a large range cooker (which took a while to work out), dishwasher, double sink and all the cutlery and crockery you could need. The American style fridge freezer with ice maker is a nice addition. By far the best room is the conservatory, with its large table, sofas and views out across the garden towards the sea. We spent most of our time in this room. There is also a lounge with log burner, though we didn't use it. It has two sofas and a freeview TV. There is WiFi available in the house which is good and some books/dvd's. There was also a small radio. In the garden there is a large decked area with patio furniture and a very big lawn. The BBQ is ok, and worked fine. Steps lead up to the raised hot tub with views over to the coast which is superb. As you can see I have rated this 4/5 in keeping with my usual scoring. The only slight things that have reduced this from a 5/5 were some small decorative things here and there, I think some new baking trays might be worth it, the tap on the roll top bath dripped slightly and the shower tray having a bit of a leak. Honestly, these do not spoil the cottage and I would give 4.5 is trip advisor allowed, but its not quite perfect for a 5/5. I do however think the price is very reasonable and allowing pets is good as its not always easy to find great places that allow them. In summary, I would recommend this cottage fully if you like a quiet escape with some luxury appointments.

We stayed here for 7 nights and first impressions were brilliant. The garden, hot tub, BBQ etc look lovely and the view from the hot tub is stunning. Good off road parking & lots of DVDs to watch if you have time. Unfortunately the hot tub stopped being hot after 3 nights & couldn't be fixed all week which was a real shame. The main bedroom is stunning, with a great view of the garden & huge bed, although having the toilet in the room is a little odd & the plug on the bath was broken & wouldn't close. The other 2 bedrooms were disappointing, no wardrobes, dull & one with a view of an abandoned part of the garden with a tank. The kitchen was nice & very well equipped, the large American style fridge/freezer with ice dispencer was great for the warm weather. The shower was unbelievably hot even on the coolest setting. It made me yelp when first getting in, and I felt dizzy after a few minutes (I'm pregnant so that probably didn't help). The location was good for visiting local areas but be prepared to drive a while. If visiting in summer take fly spray, the conservatory & living room were full of flys & horse flys after having door open in the evening. The garden is lovely & large, perfect for dogs & kids although be sure to keep them away from the bottom area where it says there are ticks & horse flys. That area could do with a little fence really as we didn't realise it was off bounds until I'd already had a walk down there. We really enjoyed the stay, in spite of the "glitches", we enjoyed visiting Ilfracombe, The big sheep, bude, westward ho, padstow etc. I'd only reccomend this to groups if you don't mind sharing one shower in the morning & don't mind who gets the main bedroom as it really puts the other 2 rooms to shame.

Booked this property through Sykes Cottages. Great size bungalow on quiet estate in village of Shop near Morwenstow. Well fitted kitchen, lovely big garden, good parking, great size bedrooms, but no wardrobes in two of them, and bathroom in main bedroom should be described as open plan, rather than en-suite. We unfortunately had a problem with the hot tub and electricity after three days which could not be rectified while we were there and spoilt the holiday somewhat, no apologies offered by the owner or Sykes Cottages.

On arrival there was tea coffe and biscuits which was a lovely touch. The bedding and towels were beautifully laundered which, to me, is so important. massive kitchen/conservatory was particularly attractive.all 6 of us agreed that it was a stunning house (and hot tub) that we would definitely stay in again and would be confident to recommend .

We had an amazing weekend at this beautiful bungalow. The bungalow had everything we needed and the jacuzzi was a massive bonus. The views were impressive. Would highly recommend this place for a peaceful break. The photos do not show how lovely it was in reality.

Myself, husband, 2 children (11 and 12) and dog have just returned from a most enjoyable stay at Skygazers.....the name is perfect as the night sky really is amazing! We did spend a great deal of time watching the star filled sky from the comfort of the hot tub! The photos really do not do the property justice. We were a little concerned that there was no photo of the front of the property but our concerns were unfounded as, in estate agent speak, it had a lovely aspect! The master bedroom was wonderful - massive bed and wardrobes with direct access to the garden. The other 2 bedrooms were also of good size, especially the family bedroom. The kitchen was modern and contained everything you could need. The lounge was cosy and there were lots of DVDs and games to keep us entertained in the evening (although we were too tired most nights after the long walks we did!) And saving the best till last - the conservatory. This was a wonderful place to eat, chat and just spend time - fantastic room. The garden was massive - plenty of room for kids to kick a ball about and dog to run around. And the negatives? To be honest very little. I would agree with earlier comments in that the walk in the dark from the house to/from hot tub was a little precarious - it is probably worth taking a torch/lantern. Also the bottom of the garden is out of bounds - not a problem but tricky keeping the dog out! Yes there were a few small issues but these were vastly outweighed by the positives. One thing that I did misread was the fact that it is a mile from the coastal path and not, as I imagined, the beach! This we discovered when we arrived and thought we'd have a walk to the beach and reached the most spectacular rugged cliff face instead! Once we'd realised our error we found wonderful beaches a couple of miles away, Duck pond was rugged and secluded and Bude golden and family friendly. Our favourite beach was Woolacombe, about 30 miles away but well worth the drive. We also enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea at the Rectory tea room - walkable distance - near the coastal path. An added bonus!

Despite contacting Sykes Cottages who rented us this property, we have had no out come. There was green slime on the water line of the hot tub which i cleaned off, then on looking into the filter area, there was lots of slimy brown residue, it was disgusting, i didn't touch that!!!. I didn't contact the owner at the time, as i already had to contact him about the lack of heating in the master bedroom. The last thing i wanted to be doing was spending what was supposed to be my birthday weekend on the phone pointing out things that should have been checked before we arrived. Each paying guest who has rented this property should do so on the understanding that EVERYTHING is checked, working and cleaned, even more so with a hot tub who would be used by many. I had the worse bug i have had in my life, i only used that hot tub once and ended up on the toilet all night. I spoke to and Emailed Sykes Cottages, who said they would contact me when they spoke to the owner, well, customers well being, views and comments obviously don't matter as i have heard nothing. That Hot tub had not been cleaned for a long time, and the owner writing in the book to add a cup full of bleach powder after use is not enough, oh, it smelt clean and gave me green hair cause of the amount of chemicals in it, but it was NOT clean

I stayed here last week with my boyfriend, mom and dad and my sister brother in law and 2 children under 5, and there was something there for all of us. It was breath taking as we walked in. So bright and spacious, and very clean. The hot tub was just amazing!! Only a short walk from the pub and not to far to the nearest beach. Overall for an amazing price for a great cottage!! We are already planning our next trip!!!
