Stable Cottage description

Holiday home
This is a delightful, converted semi-detached stable in the heart of the little village of Levisham. It has been thoughtfully renovated to provide light and comfortable accommodation for a couple looking for a romantic break in a beautiful region of the country. The living area is on open plan and gives the property a spacious feel, the fitted kitchen is modern and well equipped with a pleasant dining area and the sitting room is light and airy overlooking the attractive garden. The first floor bedroom is bright and relaxing, just right for a good night's rest after a day's activities. The well-appointed bathroom completes the accommodation, while outside there is a charming shared wall garden and the pub is only two minutes away. The property is finished and decorated to a high standard and makes an ideal retreat for a holiday.

Area
The charming and tiny village of Levisham lies six miles to the north of Pickering and consists of delightful stone cottages, farms and a village green. There is a church and pub in the village, whilst there are shops 6 miles away in Pickering. The Hole of Horcum is a section of the valley of the Levisham Beck, which flows along a steep, wooded valley and culminates in a small waterfall and water mill at its foot. There is a labyrinth of footpaths and trails through some breathtaking scenery and the station at Levisham is a stopping point for the North York Steam Railway. The area is perfectly placed for exploring all the historic houses, castles, towns and villages in this stunning and diverse region.

Region
The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

Peace like they invented it in North Yorks and never told anyone else. Our hosts were so welcoming yet you felt like it truly was your property for the week. A great base to relax in, and readers should try a quick drive to York then get on the park n ride. A very well run service, Monk's Cross is the closest terminal!

Situated in a quiet country village with an friendly pub (The Horseshoe) serving excellent meals (note at this time of year the pub seems to be closed on Monday and Tuesdays). We had a warm welcome from the cottage owners, with a tray of home made cakes and tea/coffee. Stable cottage is cosy and warm although a larger sofa would be more comfortable. There was everything for a self catering holiday in the cottage and there is a large upright freezer in the shed next door, so if you want to take frozen food from home it is ideal. A walk down to the railway station provided lovely views but beware it is very steep coming back. If you are not a vegetarian, try to find Glaves butchers in Brompton by Sawden - excellent fresh meat and pies. We did most of our grocery shopping at Lidl in Pickering but there are also local markets worh a visit (we visited Northalerton on the way to Levisham and picked up fresh fruit/veg and bread from there.Hope everyone enjoys the area as much as we did.

Very small cottage in a nice location. It includes everything you need to enjoy your holiday. Bath was a bonus after those long walks. The cottage is not owned by Skye cottages but lilac cottages, Levisham, just google and you can see all 4 cottages which are available. Sorry I don't have time today to write a longer review, message me if you have any questions. Enjoy your stay
