Station Cottage Cottage description

Holiday home
Set in four acres of grounds, this lovely detached brick-built cottage is situated in the small rural village of Bodfari, overlooking the stunning Clwydian Hill Range in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and only four miles from the ancient market town of Denbigh. The two bedrooms are both well-furnished whilst the shower rooms are equipped with modern fittings. The entire house is decorated in a light and airy manner and provides spacious accommodation for four. There is also a set of French windows opening onto a gravelled area, ideal for relaxing with a drink after a long day of exploring.

Peacefully located in the lovely Vale of Clwyd, the small village of Bodfari is set beneath the imposing Clwydian Hill Range. This charming little village has had an interesting past and former incarnations have included a Celtic camp around 500 BC, a Roman encampment and a pre-Norman village - evidence of which remains in the form of the town's church, St Stephen's. Today, the village boasts a local shop, whilst the surrounding area provides a range of good country pubs and eateries. Running close to the village is the Offa's Dyke Pathway and the ancient market town of Denbigh, with its celebrated 13th Century castle, is just a short drive away. This charming town also boasts pretty streets lined with shops, pubs and restaurants and is set amidst beautiful countryside.

Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. From Snowdonia in North Wales to the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast in the South.

This is a good base to explore North Wales. The cottage is a welcome retreat at the end of a day exploring.

We received a very warm welcome from the owner and there was a bottle of wine and some Welsh cakes for us. The cottage is immaculate and extremely comfortable and is located on a very small and quiet caravan site next to the owner's house. The beds are especially comfortable and all the facilities are excellent. We stayed at the cottage for 3 nights as we were there for our son's wedding. It made a very special weekend even more memorable and we were able to relax and have a wonderful space to get ready in. I would thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone and we will be making a return visit.

The location is stunning. Our host could not have been more helpful or accommodating. The bed was the most comfortable one we have slept in for a long time. Our meal at the local pub was outstanding for value and quantity! We were delighted to find we had digital TV, and a supply of DVDs to watch in the house.

Everything; the accommodation was fantastic and the owner made us feel so welcome. Absolutely fantastic. We have two young children who were making lots of noise. The owner of the cottage was fantastic with them and us. She made our stay brilliant.

The cottage is beautiful and well presented. We were made very welcome by the owners and they were very informative. We loved the location of the cottage, we especially enjoyed the resident robins which came to be fed each morning. I booked this as a surprise for my husband, he said this was the best Christmas present he has ever had.

A very comfortable and well equipped cottage. This is a very peaceful location and Jan, our host, was extremely helpful.
September 2014
The cottage is in a great location on a very quiet caravan site with lovely views. The accommodation is exceptional and extremely well maintained. I defy anyone not to get a good night's sleep in the amazingly comfortable beds. There are lots of things to do in the area and plenty of good places to eat.
June 2010
It was a very pleasant stay. The land lady was very cordial and friendly. Although we reached in the middle of the night we received a warm welcome with a nice welcome letter and welsh tea cakes! Home was a little smaller than we expected, especially the second bedroom and living area but very well kept. The house is located in a very beautiful and quiet area. We would like to return and perhaps try the caravan park next time.
December 2011
We had a lovely welcome from the owners and especially liked the wine and welshcakes. The cottage was clean and really well maintained, it deserves the 5 stars we have allocated to it. It was in a very beautiful part of the country and we enjoyed staying there very much. Hope to return at some time in the future. I am not really sure how peaceful it is when the caravan site is open but because the season had finished we did not see any other people. The thing we liked best about this site was the comfortable cottage and all the amenities of which there were plenty and the very nice welcome we received. If I was to choose one thing we did not like it would be we did not appreciate how far places were from Bodfari and consequently had to travel quite a distance to see various places of interest. But that was not off-putting.

This cottage comes highly recommended. The situation on the outskirts of a caravan park could have been off putting, but it was so quiet and comfortable that you would not have known there were caravans about. Jan Waterhouse was the perfect owner who went out of her way to see that everything was in order and if there was a problem it was corrected as quickly as possible. The cottage was very comfortable with all the amenities necessary (apart from a freezer) - the bedrooms were great, bathroom and en suite very suitable. All in all a very enjoyable place to stay. There were plenty of places to visit - the coast being close and Snowdonia practically on the doorstep. My husband being from North Wales agrees that this is one of the more beautiful parts of the country (then he is biased!!) and I thoroughly agree with him - despite being disabled I was able to drive around and see all the sights. Can't think of anything negative to say about the place, but am sure everyone who stays at the Station Cottage will have a fantastic holiday.

June 2015
A comfortable, clean cottage which was ideally placed for sight seeing. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful and it was in a nice quiet location.
December 2009
The cottage, though quite small for 4, was tastfully decorated and furnished. It was ideally situated for a short break, with easy access to many interesting places and beautiful scenery. The owners couldn't have been more welcoming, even providing us with the essential herbs we had left at home for our first evening meal! Kitchen equipment, pans etc were a little sparse but we only had to ask if we needed something and it was provided quickly. This cottage has only been open a short while and the owners were keen to know our opinions so that they could make up and shortcomings.
