Stepping Stones Barn Family Cottage description

Holiday home
Stepping Stones Barn is a stone built, semi-detached, barn conversion cottage next to the village green and the river in the village of Stainforth, just three miles from Settle in the Yorkshire Dales. The cottage has two double bedrooms and one twin room which with the addition of a family bathroom make it suitable for six people. The cottage also contains an open plan living area with a fitted kitchen, a dining area and a sitting room. To the outside of the cottage is a mature garden overlooking the river with outdoor furniture and a BBQ, as well as lockable bike storage and off road parking for one car. Beautifully furnished and set in stunning countryside, Stepping Stones Barn is a truly luxurious holiday cottage.

Stainforth is a village in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Stone built traditional cottages, narrow lanes, the village church and the quaint old pub all go together to make this one of the prettiest villages in Ribblesdale. The village is about three miles from Settle, a bustling market town with excellent shopping facilities, a good selection of restaurants and a thriving market day, when the square is filled with stalls offering a wide range of goods. The Settle to Carlisle Railway, the most scenic in England features the occasional steam train, and the run across the Ribblehead viaduct with its twenty-four arches is an experience not to be missed.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

Electric radiators with underfloor heating in bathroom and electric fire in sitting area. I booked the barn for my sister and niece who is disabled, and my other sister and husband stayed too. Such a lovely home from home and the garden was an extra treat. We managed to have a family holiday together in comfort and style. With flowers and milk and plenty of space - a very relaxing stay they really have thought of everything! Well done.

This is an excellent rental and it was ideal for our purpose, If ocupied by a full complement of 6 people it might become a bit cramped in the bathroom area. (Only one with the loo also in it,)

April 2011
We loved Stepping Stones Barn, everything seemed brand new and of excellent quality and really tasteful. The local pub was very cosy and the locals were welcoming and friendly. A multitude of excellent walks in the area, every shop and service you could need in Settle was just 2 miles away. An excellent base.

June 2011
The cottage was immaculate and very tastefully decorated. Almost everything you could reasonably wish for was provided, which when added to the level of comfort made for a really good stay.
April 2013
What a gorgeous place. My husband and son had gone for a cycle holiday. They loved the cottage which is well appointed, clean, tidy and high spec details through out. There was a welcome bottle of wine. Although the snow that arrived halted the cycling they both enjoyed the walks. There is nothing left out of this beautiful barn and would recommend to family and friends
June 2015
We stayed here for a week in order to explore the area. The cottage is an excellent base to stay and is well equipped with most things you will need for a week - including a bunch of fresh flowers and a bottle of red wine, thanks very much! The bedrooms and bathroom are on the ground floor, and the living accommodation is on the first floor, allowing for the beautiful views from the upstairs windows. The village is so quiet and peaceful, all you can really hear are the birds singing and the sheep in the nearby fields. The local pub, the Craven Heifer, comes highly recommended, and is obviously the hub of the community, but don't be put off by the landlord - his bark is worse than his bite! We had a fantastic week in this cottage and were sorry to leave, but may well return in the future!

We really enjoyed our stay here. There was plenty of room for a family of 5, it was very clean, well equipt and the bedding was comfortable. Our kids loved playing on the stepping stones over the beck and we loved how close we were to some lovely walks and views. Catrigg Force was a very nearby walk a lovely surprise and I recommend you venture there. We loved the walk around Malham Cove also. This place is very well located and very peaceful.

This is a top-class property providing a high level of comfort throughout, with the rooms all very tastefully furnished - you really couldn't ask for any more. Stainforth is an excellent base for getting out and about in the Dales, in fact there are plenty of nice walks from the doorstep. We had a great holiday here and can wholeheartedly recommend it.
January 2012
Amazing cottage. Very clean and warm. Very well located. Would recommend.
September 2012
Loved everything about this barn conversion, a fantastic cottage, luxurious decor, furnished and finished to a very high standard. Oodles of crockery, cutlery, glasses etc. In fact, the place is equipped with everything you'll need, a washer and drier, lovely bathroom with huge bath and a great separate shower. We had a tesco shopping delivery which was a brainwave! Half an hour after we arrived I was chilling in my slippers with a glass of wine in hand! There was a stream with stepping stones just outside the cottage which was brilliant! The kids (and me) had a laugh playing in there with our river shoes on. There were lovely views from the windows, and the village is small and friendly. Nice pub! Just out the front of the cottage and turn left, there's a walk up the hill to Catrigg Force waterfall. It gets easier to get up the hill as the week goes on!! Settle is fab, could really live there! Have lunch in the Old Naked Man Cafe, best sandwiches I've every had. Cant recommend the place enough. Will definately return.
October 2011
We had a great week at stepping stones barn. The old building has been converted in a very modern style internally, to a very high standard. But it still manages to retain some of the traditional cottage charm. The kitchen is equipped to a high standard, and the bathroom is of very high quality - an excellent shower and bath. The location is peaceful - in a pretty small village, with an good honest local pub that serves good honest pub food. Another positive is that its possible to walk to nearby waterfalls within half an hour or so from the cottage, and even to walk to Pen-y-Ghent from the accommodation. Our two kids loved it too (aged 8 and 5) - we couldn't really have asked for any more! This accommodation is not cheap, but is certainly worth it - with Stepping Stones Barn you certainly get what you pay for.
August 2011
It is a lovely cottage in a peaceful village but so close to Settle for shops and restaurants. The cottage is so well equipped and has some lovely touches such as the heated bathroom floor, comfy sofas and wifi.
