My sister, small dog and I enjoyed our stay very much - lovely cottage and facilities and good area for exploring the Dales. Our only criticism is that the beds were all about 6" from the floor and I could not get out of mine! Still I slept well on the sofa! We have booked the neighbouring Robins Nest for a week next June (single beds are normal height). Very friendly, helpful owners.

The family left the keys in the door for us as we were arriving late the night before New Year's Eve, we were greeted with some biscuits and wine that was much appreciated. This particular cottage was in need of minor repairs and updates but the owners may not even be fully aware of such as radiators needing bleeding, odd ceiling lights weren't put back in and leaks in the bathroom. Due to the time of the year and the recent snow/ice, we were told they had been forced to shut the place the week prior so we were relieved to still be able to go. The hot tub had just been repaired and was amazing. The setting was lovely and there were two other cottages in the same complex, which shared use of the hot tubs and communal games room but wasn't a problem. Overall a lovely place to stay and quite informal so would benefit from finishing off certain jobs as there were notes in the guest book repeating the same thing.

The cottage was in a beautiful location and easy to get to major points of interest. It was very peaceful and the cottage was warm and cosy and dogs were made very welcome. I spent four days at Swallows Nest in November whilst visiting my mother from Australia and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay with my mum's scotty. There are lovely walks close to the cottage which is on a quiet lane.

The setting was fantastic, a lovely part of the world. A well equipped cottage, with a nice big TV which is great if you can't go out in the evenings. Birds came to feed at the feeders outside the kitchen which was very sweet.

Beautiful cottage, ground floor property so great if stairs are a problem, decorated beautifully throughout, the owner has made the place so lovely and homely. Doggy friendly so perfect for our little pooches. Two beautiful double bedrooms, spacious n comfy lounge are and large kitchen with everything you need. Loved the log burner in the living room, warmed the cottage quickly (tho the heating toasted the place through too) and perfect for winter days snuggled up on the settee with wine and a good film. Perfect location for visiting Chatsworth, Xmas market, Bakewell and Matlock, gorgeous countryside, we all really enjoyed our first little cottage adventure at Swallows Nest, would so recommend it!!

We had a brilliant time staying at Swallows Nest for a week in October! The booking process with Sykes cottages was easy, and their website provides lots of information about the cottage and surrounding area. The cottage is in a great location between the towns of Matlock and Chesterfield, and is near lots of main attractions in the Peak District. The cottage is on the owners farm, which makes it a quiet and relaxing place to stay. The owner was really friendly and welcoming, and happy to answer any questions about the cottage and the area. The cottage was plenty big enough for the 2 of us, but would be suitable for 4 people as the rooms are all quite big. It's nicely decorated, and we loved that there was a log fire to use during the colder evenings. There is also wifi which was easy to connect to and handy to have. Within about 30 mins drive of the cottage is Chatsworth House, Chestnut Centre, Dovedale, Bakewell, lots of national trust places and plenty of walks. There were so many places to visit, we ran out of time to do them all! There are also some bigger supermarkets nearby, and the towns and villages have some nice independent shops. We loved our stay at Swallows Nest, and would recommend the cottage to anyone wanting to explore the Peak District! We'd love to go back again in the future.

We loved Swallow Nest from the moment we stepped in. It was warm, modern and extremely comfortable. The views of the countryside are stunning and the silence at night is fantastic. The hot tub is a really nice touch too! All in all, we would have happily stayed in the cottage for longer and have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.
