The simple converted barn was ideally suited to our needs in terms of its location and in what it provided. We particularly welcomed the generously-sized rooms, the unexpectedly high ceilings and the two very comfortable sofas. Moreover, all the appliances were in tip-top working order and easy to use.

An ideal holiday stay for a couple. It was a warm, comfortable, well equipped barn which was tastefully furnished and had friendly hosts. It was very rural, wonderful views with dramatic scenery. There was excellent walking from the barn with some very good pubs/food in the locality. There were great places to visit nearby. Will go back!

The location of Goosetree Barn was fantastic: it's views over surrounding countryside and the feeling of isolation made this a real break. The fact that there were several very good dining pubs within easy distance was also a bonus. The property itself was generous in proportions and really well-appointed. We had a very lovely stay; it was perfect.

The seclusion and quietness was bliss. We loved being so close to nature, being able to see sheep, rabbits, stoats and all the birds of prey from the cottage. As a cyclist I was able to ride from the driveway on very quiet roads to anywhere I wanted, my partner is a walker and we completed numerous walks from the front door. Its in a great location too, bigger towns are within easy driving distance. And to reach the property, its only half hour from the M6.

Absolutely first class stay. The cottage was beautiful and the owners exceptionally helpful. In a great location for walks from the doorstep and easy access to all parts of the Peak District. The kitchen was fully equipped and relaxing in front of the log burner in the evening was perfect. The views from the cottage over the valley were tremendous. There is nothing bad at all to say about this place.

We stay in self catering properties every year for an annual 1 week holiday and feel able to review property fairly. Unfortunately the website photographs through agent Skyes Cottages are very deceiving! The photos are taken at angle to give you the impression you have outstanding views - this is definitely not the case. From the lounge double doors you are looking on to the conservatory of the property in front, only a few feet away, and the view from the kitchen overlooks the shed. If you are wanting cosy basic furnishings then this is the place for you, but if you like luxury, definitely not. No bedside table on one side of the bed and the bedside lamps, which are fitted to the wall, are too far from the bed and have to get out of bed to turn them off. Had to move side lamps from lounge and adapt chair to bedside table. Towels are not proper bath towel size. Not coffee side tables if you are sitting at one of the couches. On the upside, owners very accommodating to organising a non-allergy duvet due to feather intolerance. Cows in field right outside bedroom and bathroom Windows, which although lovely, does bring lots of flies. Property more for walkers. 3* accommodation.

The Barn was lovely and cosy, with lots of homely finishing touches, and a lovely view across the fields from the back door. The area has the most beautiful scenery, and is fantastic for walking and cycling, with plenty of places of interest to visit.

The Barn was delightfully situated high in the valley and as the weather was kind to us we had some incredible views. A place to really get away from it all!

The Barn is like the "Tardis" small looking BUT with a Big Heart. Everything you could possibly want tastefully decorated, cosy, comfortable, spacious, welcoming. We arrived late at night in the mist and rain but found it easily enough and it is at the remote end of remote perfect for us. For walkers it is paradise and although remote everything the Dales has to offer is close at hand there are plenty of places to visit. The owners were friendly and helpful. We cannot speak to highly of The Barn. Try it you won't be disappointed.

the interior is beautifully decorated with loads of space, huge bedroom, the bathroom is spacious with a good shower room, great for refreshing up after a long walk through the woods and lovely countryside, and this make it a walkers paradise, although remote everything the Dales has to offer is close at hand, there are plenty of places to visit. The owners were friendly and helpful, We cannot speak too highly of The Barn. Try it you won't be disappointed. a perfect retreat to combine, a little walking with a pub lunch, a little sight seeing within 20 min drive and a great kitchen for meals in. LOVED IT !

Absolutely loved my stay. The owners were really friendly, and had clearly made a real effort with the property. Gorgeous modern bathroom, lovely kitchen, cosy living room and bedroom. Clean and well presented, with lots of little personal touches - without being overbearing, and definitely not outdated (which has been my experience in many other self-catering cottages). I almost wish the weather had been colder, so I could have tested the wood burner! The only slight downside would be that, due to the (very pretty) exposed beams in the bedroom, there is very little between you and the outside world. I can't comment on how this effects heat loss from the building. but it does mean that everything outside can be heard very clearly. Not much of a problem for early risers, but you may want earplugs if you plan on sleeping in! My one big comment would be that the beading was feather, with no obvious feather-free alternatives. A luxury for some people I don't doubt, but - being severely asthmatic - this was the only real inconvenience. All in all, a lovely peaceful stay in the middle of the stunning Peak District - absolute bliss.
