The Buttery is a small and Bijou accommodation; for all that it is comfortable, clean and well appointed. The kitchen area was small but had all we needed to cook whatever meals we required. The bathroom was very well appointed, both for those who like to shower and for those who like bath. The main room was warm in inclement weather, and you can expand outside in the fine weather, to have a BBQ or just sip a glass or two or three, be it white, red, pink, or amber, whilst taking in the sounds of nature.
The area was very good for walking and we enjoyed plenty of those. Of these the walk around Semer Water invigorating and ideal for removing the stiffness of a long drive to Countersett. Another was the walk to Bainbridge, see if you can find the old tank used for communal Wenslydale cheese making in the lane towards Bainbridge. Which brings me to the fact that the visitor must take a trip into Hawes and try the cheese there. Personally I loved the blue.
On the downside we did find it very light in the morning with the early sun, and being late May early June that was early indeed.
Apart from that we enjoyed our stay here and will probably go back in the future.
