Mrs Berbas - Reilly
September 2006
The accommodation was second to none. We were really pleased with it - newly refurbished, modern and very homely and clean. We would most certainly consider revisiting this property as there are outstanding views and so much in the area that we haven't seen as yet.

It was wonderfully laid back and relaxing. The protected dark skies meant that the stars were beautiful. We took the opportunity to go to the observatory which was only a mile away.

We absolutely loved our stay. The Byre is brilliantly kitted out with everything you could need and more. The utility room and large built in storage in the hallway were a real bonus. The bedrooms were both comfortable - the twin bedroom has particularly lovely views over the garden and fields. With 2 young children this property was perfect for us with plenty of space to play and explore, with the large shared garden plus the bridal paths. The setting is incredibly tranquil and the sky when the sun sets is beautiful. Thoroughly recommend this property - we will book again!

This was the second time we have stayed in this property. We particularly like the position of the cottage, the owner has stables and a farmhouse on the site and there are two rented cottages. The surrounding countryside is wonderful with lots of walking and wonderful bird life. The horses are also very entertaining to watch. The cottage is very warm, comfortable and beautifully furnished. The owners live on site and are very friendly and helpful, they provide a very useful 'welcome' pack.

Cottage was superb. Faultless.

November 2014
We liked the location of the cottage, on a farm in the midst of the countryside but with other properties around so that we weren't totally isolated. We love the area and there is a lot to see and do there. What made this property so special was the attention to detail in the furnishings. It was very comfortable with excellent beds, a good fire, lobby for boots and waterproofs, good airing cupboard and just beautiful ornaments, rugs, pictures etc. More like a hotel than a cottage holiday!

This was our 4th visit and we will return for number 5. We love the location, the open views over the Northumberland countryside, the horses in the fields and the wildlife you can see from the windows. The Byre is a home-from-home.

September 2013
The overall cleanliness of the Byre was exceptional. The photos on Sykes advertising did not do this place justice, inside the Byre was roomy with lovely bedrooms, and views of the paddocks and surrounding hills. The Byre was exceptionally peaceful, and we felt very at home! Pity we could not have stayed longer. 5* in our book!
Mrs Calver
April 2014
Enjoying the peace and quiet, having time with the girls and my husband away from daily life. We had no food with us and it was especially lovely that we were greeted with butter, bread, eggs, bacon and sausages ready for breakfast the next day!
Mr Shepherd
March 2014
Peaceful surroundings and a comfortable cottage. It was the best one we have stayed in, and we have stayed in many over the years. Everything about the cottage was simply lovely, it was amazing! From the moment we stepped inside we just knew we were going to be happy for the whole week. We can't wait to return to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

June 2013
The Byre made our family holiday all the more enjoyable. The owners were very friendly and informative and our little girl now has a new best friend in Zulu the dog he was lovely. The barn is very well equipped with everything you would need, and is very well maintained and exceptionally clean. It is in such a peaceful, relaxing location and the views are amazing. The garden is quite large and wraps around 3 sides of the barn, one side of the garden is quite open with the farmhouse next door (which is not a problem at all) and the other is very private if you prefer it that way - best of both worlds! The weather was fab all week so the garden was used lots when we arrived back from our days out. All in all, we had an amazing time here and would not hesitate to come back or recommend to anyone. Thank you.
Mrs Theodoloz Bontron

A wonderful week for all sorts of reasons - my own family history (great grandparents farmed there), the horses in the fields all around - especially the new foal - and the generosity of the owners in the 'big house' who were very welcoming and genuine.

The open fire. Entry to property was through spacious utility room made the removal of muddy boots and coats effortless thus keeping the cottage clean and tidy. Despite being busy farmers the owners always afforded time to advise on places to visit. Excellent place to visit.

The owners were very welcoming and relaxed and there were lots of toy cars tractors for our little boy to play with whenever he wanted - definitely the highlight of his holiday. Staying in the Byre helped me reach a level of relaxation I had not felt for many years. I slept like a log in the very comfortable bed, was nice and warm despite the prevailing snowy conditions and felt instantly 'at home'.

We had a wonderful few days in the Byre, a lovely cottage in an excellent quiet location. The owners were very friendly, there if you needed them, but never obtrusive, and provided a selection of local "goodies" as a welcome gift. The cottage was spotless, very comfortable, and the open fire was just what you needed on a cold winters night. We would have loved to have stayed longer and will definitely return in the future.
