The Corn House Family Cottage description

Holiday home
The Corn House is one of four brick built barn conversions in a farmyard location on a 100 acre working cattle farm on the outskirts of the Shropshire village of Leighton near to Ironbridge. Boasting one double and one twin bedroom as well as a family bathroom, this cottage can sleep four people. Elsewhere in the cottage is an open plan living area with a fitted kitchen, sitting room with an electric log effect stove and a dining area. To the exterior of the cottage is off road parking for 2 cars and a front sitting area with outdoor furniture and countryside views. Just four miles from the World Heritage Site of Ironbridge, The Corn House is a wonderful holiday cottage for anyone wishing to explore this part of the country.

Area
The village of Leighton, which is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1087, stands in the heart of Shropshire, and is only four miles from the World Heritage Site of Ironbridge, home of the world's first iron-built bridge, built 1777-79. The Ironbridge Gorge is one of the country's most delightful tourist attractions; situated in a lovely wooded valley, the village has many pubs, restaurants, shops and tea rooms. A collection of industrial and Victorian themed museums make up the Ironbridge Museums, including the renowned Blist Hill Victorian Village, where you can step back in time. Enjoy the nearby medieval towns of Much Wenlock, Shrewsbury and Ludlow, as well as many NT properties including Attingham Hall and Park as well as the fascinating Wroxeter Roman City and Vineyard.

Region
A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.

The cottage was very quaint, on a working farm but very peaceful. It is very warm, cosy and comfortable and the owner made us very welcome. The cottage is in a very central position, close to Ironbridge, Shrewsbury and Much Wenlock. We had a very enjoyable stay .

My wife and I have stayed at Morrels Wood three times now, twice in the dairy and once in the Cornhouse. Lovely relaxing surroundings, comfortable accommodation and well worth the drive down the lane

The Corn Barn is situated on a working cattle farm in a lovely setting and was everything we expected plus more. For our children it was the first time they'd stayed on a farm and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

The owners were very welcoming, providing us with a cake on arrival. The fire was already stocked up and roaring away for us getting there. The owner also kept us well stocked up on fresh supplies of wood every day. The log fire was particularly lovely.

Me and my partner just returned from a weekend stay in the Cornhouse, which was a lovely break away. The cottage is located on a farm, with stunning views across the local countryside. There is lots to see around the local area, especially the Ironbridge gorge. Will definitely be coming back. And the sponge cake waiting for us when we arrived was a nice touch :)
