We wondered if January week at the top of the Peak District was a bit of a risk, but the weather stayed fine for us and everyday was topped off by returning to this beautiful cottage.
The village of Charlesworth is quaint and full of interesting buildings made from the traditional stone and perfectly equipped with two pubs, a beautiful greengrocers with a fish counter and a convenience store which conveniently seems to stock everything you could want, they even make sandwiches to order!
When we arrived at the cottage on the first day, the heating was on, the fire was laid and everything was spotlessly clean, the garden is huge with plenty of room for an energetic boxer dog to run around, although after each days walk she was fit for nothing more than collapsing in front of the log burner.
The kitchen was well stocked and the gas powered range was a joy to cook with.
Upstairs the bedrooms were great, topped off by the skylight above the master bed, and the p-shaped bath was the perfect way to end each day.
All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable stay in a cottage we can't recommend highly enough.
