First of all, sorry for my English especially the grammar. But I like to write a review about this fantastic cottage nearest London.
I am from Berlin, Germany and this October we decided to make holidays in Great Britain to visit London. We went by car from Berlin to Gravesend, it needs about 12 hours (incl. ferry boat from Calais to Dover and travel breaks). I strongly recommend this kind of travelling on weekend (normally on Saturday is arrival date), you take only the motorway and arrive very relaxed Great Britain.
I like to tell about my experiences with travelling to London from the cottage:
-10 minutes by car from there is a town called Longfield, there is a railway station with direct connections to Victoria station in Central London. The parking at Longfield railway station costs 4 pounds the whole day, and the ticket for train inc. travel card in Central London costs for a family (2 adults and 2 children) 26 pounds.
-If you like visit London on weekend I recommend to go by car to Lewisham near London, go to car park behind Tesco, parking is free on weekend and then walk only 3 minutes to DLR station in Lewisham and buy a travel card for a family for 18 pounds. Then you can visit London in a very relaxed kind of travelling and you passed Tower Bridge and Tower on this way .
-In addition to Longfield, during normal business hours in week (start at 9 am !!) I recommend to go by car to Greenwich (40 minutes), Blackheath Avenue in Greenwich Park and park there for max. 4 hours (4,80 pounds), you can visit the Maritime museum and the 0 meridian of course, but another interesting thing is the railway connection from Greenwich to London Bridge or Charing Cross. Normally you should stand on Oxford street / Regent street in 45 minutes from there.
Independently from my London tips I recommend the fantastic neighborhood, the beautiful countryside, Rochester and Canterbury, Whisteable on sea etc. too.
