Situated only a short walk from the centre of Durham, this Edwardian end-terrace holiday property retains some period features, and is the perfect location for guests wishing to explore this beautiful city which has been awarded the status of being a World Heritage Site. Durham City is one of the most historic cities in England, and offers guests a plethora of attractions to visit and explore. The famous Durham Cathedral and castle are an easy 15-minute walk away and definitely worth a visit. There is also the Gala Theatre located in the centre of the city which is only a 20-minute walk away too, making this the perfect spot for guests wanting to enjoy a theatre trip as part of their break. Packed with top quality restaurants, bistros, cafés and bars, Durham is a thriving city with plenty of entertainment for guests at all time of the year. Guests have the opportunity to enjoy the bi-annual Lumiere Festival, annual book week, jazz festival, arts festival, miners gala and many more free attractions, as well as the weekly farmer’s market and pavement artists that line the streets and market place. Should guests wish to enjoy a little retail therapy, they will find some beautiful boutiques along with many high street names and designers, as well as gift shops, book shops and antiques shops. Many of the university colleges can be found within a 3-mile radius and this is the perfect base from which to really get to know the university and visit friends and family who might be studying here or due to graduate at any given time.

A little further afield but still within easy driving distance, guests will be able to enjoy a day trip to the magnificent Durham Dales, Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors, where there are a vast number of public footpaths that will take guests on a journey through some of the most magnificent countryside that the area has to offer. Barnard Castle can be reached within a 30-minute drive and offers plenty of attractions for guests of all ages, including the Bowes Museum and the castle itself. Hamsterley Forest is only a 45-minute drive and makes the perfect day trip for families of all ages and really must be explored and enjoyed. High Force and Low Force waterfalls are within an hour’s drive too and offer some spectacular scenery and landscapes. There is also the opportunity to visit the Angel of the North statue which is only a 25-minute drive away. Beamish Museum is 20 minutes, Newcastle 30 minutes and the Metrocentre 25 minutes by car.
