The cottage was set in a stunning remote location. The house had everything we could have wanted and was a real home from home. This was a great base to explore the island which has so much amazing scenery and many places to explore.

The Cottage was situated in a quiet part of Skye which was very peaceful. It was a lovely place to walk with the dog as the area was beautiful with lots to see.

A fabulous holiday. Lovely cottage in a gorgeous location; the perfect place for our two year old daughter - the sheep and lambs helped. This cottage and its location are even better than it looks online! Idyllic. Will hopefully return one day!

The location was stunning and the cottage was like a home from home. We were able to take our dog too and he loved the holiday as much as we did! On an evening, the TV was excellent as there are so many channels to choose from. Loved the fact we had our own loch! Saw lots of wild life around the cottage - otters, eagles, birds and could walk from our doorstep! Will definitely use Ghillie's again!

Superb cottage. I would recommend it unreservedly. It pulls off the trick of feeling distinctly premium, whilst still being cosy. A fantastic base.

We loved being surrounded by nature; the tranquil setting, even in the strong winds, made it a heaven on earth!!

Nice little cottage in the middle of nowhere.

Everything about the cottage was fantastic, the location, views, its own loch. We wanted to never leave and wished we could live there! A beautiful place.

The cottage was very comfortable and very well equipped in a stunning, peaceful location, overlooking the loch with only sheep for neighbours - lovely.
Mrs Cruickshank

We loved the seclusion of the cottage. We also loved that after a few hours of arrival that you could make the cottage lovely and cosy. The kitchen was modern and well stocked. The Living Room was comfortable. There was a feeling of complete peace when you closed the curtains on the dark nights. We will definitely return to this cottage. The Shepherd was very friendly and helpful. Great holiday.

We loved everything about the holiday from arriving at the cottage the holiday was superb. We loved the privacy, seclusion, cosiness, the scenery from the cottage was more than expected. I can only say it was the most beautiful holiday we have had in many a year, so much so we are now looking to purchase a property in or around the area.

Excellent positioning of the cottage within the countryside, with excellent views all around plus the added bonus of the fishing in the loch.
Mrs MacDonald
August 2012
The position of the cottage near the loch and the rowing boats on the Lochin. It was also an easy cottage to keep clean. The position of the cottage on the island was really good.
Mr Stevenson
September 2012
Loved the remoteness of the cottage, also it was spotlessly clean.
December 2011
Booked online, excellent service with comprehensive details on access to property and who to contact. Owners very helpful and visited on day of arrival. Shepherd also came and recommended various places.Cottage brilliant, very comfy and warm and very well equipped. Loved the fact that our dog was made very welcome too! Ideal for walks, we visited the Coral Beach near Dunvegan, Talisker Bay as well as Portree and Broadford. In fact hoping to return to property during 2012. The property is isolated, no mobile phone coverage but this didn't detract and the sound of silence punctuated by wildlife and sheep was exquisite, can fully understand why so many people have moved to the island or return to visit!

The cottage is remote and peaceful in a beautiful setting. We did some fishing from the little boat and had a roam about on the vast estate. We felt free from the hassles of modern day life and had a really refreshing break. The sightseeing is incredible. Skye has so much to offer. We both agree we would like to have stayed longer.
Mr Shanks

Everything was great. We enjoyed being in a remote spot though Dunvegan and Portree were still easily accessible. The islands views are incredible.

August 2011
We loved the situation of this cottage; it was picturesque with beautiful views over the loch. Isolated and peaceful yet an excellent centre for exploring the north of Skye. Having its own little hill loch and the use of a good rowing boat was a lovely bonus. We were very comfortable in the cottage. Good Sky TV was a godsend for weather forecasts though we were too busy to watch much else.
July 2013
Second time we have been to Gillie's cottage and it will not be the last, Love everything about the cottage the area and Skye. Location is second too none.
September 2014
An excellent cottage...perfect for pets...very quiet and in a remote location but still central with easy access to all parts of the island. The only criticism we had was for the small fridge. We had a week self catering and took a lot of food stuffs with us for the week, only to find that the fridge was far too small. There was only two of us so I don't know how four would cope. The kitchen was a good size and had plenty of room for a full sized fridge/freezer.
January 2013
We really enjoyed our stay at The Ghillie's Cottage. There were three adults and one dog in the party. The coffe, tea and lovely ginger biscuits were a lovely welcoming gift. The cottage itself is in good condition and clean. There was everything that you could possibly need .Initially on our arrival the cottage was quite cool but within a couple of hours and for the rest of the week it was lovely and cosy...a pleasure to return to in the dark evenings. One complaint would be that in the room with the double bed the storage heater did not work but in fairness an oil heater was left for us. The cottage is about 2 miles of the main road along a single track road which was in great condition. The front door is very difficult to lock but at no time did I feel safe.Perhaps the lock could be looked at.The isolation, I felt, was part of the enchantment of the cottage. My husband liked the loch to the rear of the cottage and fished there a couple of times. We visited in November and unfortunately most of the tourist attractions were closed. This did not stop us from finding places to visit and places to eat. I would recommend this cottage if relaxation and serenity is what you are looking for.The bedrooms are upstairs therefore it would not be suitable for a disabled person The Shepherd,Robert, visited us and gave us lots of information about the Island. He made sure that we were comfortable and was a real charachter. Would I return?Definitely.
