The Granary Family Cottage description

Holiday home
The Granary is a Georgian house in Downham Market. The house has a double room, a twin room, a single room and a room with bunks. There is a family bathroom with roll top bath, and a further cloakroom in the utility. The kitchen leads to the dining area with woodburner and bay window, while the sitting room has an open fire. Outside is off road parking for two cars, and an enclosed garden area with furniture. The Granary is well placed for the shops and restaurants of Downham Market, or for heading further afield to visit nature reserves, the Sandringham Estate, the coast and more.

Downham Market is a rural market town in Norfolk. It still holds a weekly produce market and a fortnightly craft and collectables market. Close to Downham Market are nature reserves including Welney, Snettisham and Titchwell. The coast is also within reach, as are Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire.

Picturesque rolling Fens, unspoilt beaches, and pretty waterways – East Anglia is a dream holiday destination. Norfolk offers beaches, saltmarshes and quaint villages whilst equally as charming are the coast and countryside of Suffolk.

Gas central heating with woodburner in dining room and open fire in sitting room. Gas range-style oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, TV with Freeview, DVD, CD, WiFi. Fuel, power and starter pack for woodburner and open fire inc. in rent. A fabulous, comfortable house - very cosy. It was a home from home, rather like staying at a friend's place. I wholeheartedly recommend it. It was very well equipped and we wanted for nothing. There was a lovely big kitchen with wood burner and a super sitting room with open fire. Everything one could want and some pleasant pubs within walking distance. There were also superb walks nearby, along the waterway.

A perfectly lovely and well equipped house. It was ideally situated for us, close to Station and the Fen Rivers Way.

The cottage was well presented, warm and comfortable. All our needs were catered for. A real home away from home. Highly recommended.

Great cottage! Very homely and comfortable, much bigger than it looked on the website. The open fires were an absolute joy.

A house full of character; what we Americans would expect as an ideal English cottage! A very nice and helpful owner and a great experience!

The Granary is beautiful, so much thought and attention has been paid to detail. We enjoyed a lovely Christmas, the house was decorated beautifully. The owner contacted me prior to our arrival and ensured that everything was in place to enable us to host a Christmas dinner for 12 people. Marion even provided extra plates and cutlery - nothing was too much trouble for her. Well recommended! Can't wait to return. Thank you.

The cottage was beautiful and large. The owners had taken a lot of care to ensure that the facilities were good. The cooker and dining room were excellent. It is a beautiful cottage in a nice town.

A home away from home, only better! Enjoyed our stay in a very cosy, comfortable and character filled cottage. Close proximity to many attractions for adults and children. Perfectly located, minutes from shops and train. Two weeks was not enough, as I come regularly from Australia to visit family and friends, The Granary is by far the best short term let I have had the pleasure of staying in.

Cathedral Way was great. Just round the corner from the town centre. Handy for shopping. Ripon was a delight - friendly people. We recommend it to anyone. The price was also reasonable.

We had a very comfortable stay at The Granary, a true home from home. Thoughtfully furnished and equipped, well decorated, cosy, quiet and welcoming with many attractive touches. One of the best holiday cottages we have rented.
October 2013
The house was comfortable with plenty of room for everyone. My 2 year old grandson loved it and the garden was great for him to run about in. The house was well stocked with everything you could need. It was well situated for supermarket and take-always although we mainly self catered. Not a lot to do in Downham Market and it is a bit of a drive to the coast but we enjoyed coming 'home' each day. Wells, Blakeney and the North Norfolk coast is well worth visiting. We would recommend a visit to the local station, as well as the local farm if you have children. The weather was kind to us and we had no complaints with the accommodation.
