The Heights Pet-Friendly Cottage description

Holiday home
The Heights is a lovely first floor apartment, just three miles from Haworth and can sleep four people. The cottage apartment has a double bedroom, two single bedrooms, a shower room, a kitchen with dining area, a sitting room with an electric fire and an external staircase. Outside there is a large car park with ample off road parking and shared communal, enclosed landscaped gardens with seating areas. The Heights is a wonderful base for your holiday.

Home to the famous Bronte sisters, the small village of Haworth and the surrounding moorland inspired the women to put pen to paper and to write what have now become classics of English literature. With its myriad of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways and cobbled streets, there is a wonderful period atmosphere in this charming town set against the backdrop of countryside that would eventually be made famous in ‘Wuthering Heights'. The Worth Valley Railway is also nearby and was used in the film 'The Railway Children'. Trips around the old village of Oxenhope on the wonderful steam trains make for a special day out whilst The Bronte Parsonage museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the Museum of Rail all make equally good attractions whilst the market town of Skipton – often called the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales – is only a short drive away.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

Gas underfloor central heating with electric fire. Gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge, washing machine, TV with Freeview, DVD, WiFi. Fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Cot and highchair available on request. Large car park with ample off road parking. Shared communal, enclosed landscaped gardens with seating areas. Sorry, no smoking. Two well-behaved pets welcome. Shop 3 miles, fully-licensed bar on-site. Note: Apartment accessed via 12 external steps. Note: Due to the unfenced stream, pond, the cockerels in the grounds and the cars going in and out of the grounds, pets should be kept on a lead and children and pets should be supervised at all times. Note: The furniture used can also be seen and purchased in the showrooms of the adjacent former shooting lodge. Note: Due to rural location, WiFi may be intermittent.

The accommodation and location was both tranquil and peaceful.

January 2015
It was peaceful, had ample parking and a garden area to exercise the dogs safely first thing in the morning and last thing at night. The apartment was lovely and warm.

We stayed here again in February/March on a further house hunting trip. A very big disappointment since our previous visit. We found the service side had become totally random and unsatisfactory, going for extended periods without fresh bed linen and towels, and without our apartment being cleaned. In addition, the management had decided before our arrival to terminate the local wifi service with the result that we had to decamp regularly to a local restaurant in Haworth just to read our emails. Considering that we had rebooked on the basis of wifi, this was a bit of a scam. We will never go here again or recommend it to anybody else.

Arrived 9th September to find the apartment looked nothing like the pictures on Sykes website. Very disappointed, they advertise a teashop doing breakfast /lunch/evening meals but were told by a very nice lady that the teashop closed at 5pm. How this is classed as 4star l do not know. Its very basic and feels like being in a monastry. We left within half an hour, l would definately not recommend to anyone. The 2 stars l have given is purely for the views.

Stayed here for nearly two weeks in November for a house-hunting trip. The flat was clean and cosy, and we looked forward to getting back to it in the evenings in the dark, with the rain teeming down and a gale howling away. The service from the site manager was really good - when the washing machine didn't work, they sent around an engineer first thing the next morning to fix it. We certainly enjoyed staying and would do so again. There are a few improvements the owners could make. It would be useful if they provided a tumble dryer, or at least a couple of clothes horses. The other bugbear was the variable, and often frustratingly poor, wifi and mobile telephone reception.

Just got back from a fabulous weekend here the staff are so helpful and do everything in their power to make sure your stay is as stress free and comfortable as possible. We went here to celebrate my husbands 50th and Maxine made sure we had a table laid out and decorated especially for the occasion. Even when we arrived late on our first night she cooked us all a meal and made sure we were all settled in to our accommodation . Very friendly atmosphere in the granary restaurant and the food is fabulous. Great food, great company, great accommodation would highly recommend this place to anyone. Thanks to Maxine and Donna for a most enjoyable stay and we are hoping to come back soon xx

We stayed for a long weekend. Our cottage was spotlessly clean. Very warm and cosy, all the bedrooms were comfortable and we slept really well as the location is very quiet and restful. The cottage is furnished to a very high standard. We would definitely return. Haworth is only a very short drive away.

We stayed with our two children 10 and 8. , for the whole week. The accommodation was of a high standard. Well equipped and spotless. The property was slightly bigger than it looked on the website, particularly the two single rooms , it also had two bathrooms which was useful. The setting is just beautiful, peaceful and the views are excellent. The staff (Ruth) was really friendly and helpful. A great place for a peaceful get away from it all, although lots of space for the children to play safely too. The property is ideally situated for Howarth and Keithley. We also used it as a base to visit Skipton, and Saltare. We would stay here again and recommend it to others. If you wanted a big group there were adjoining properties also available at this property also known as Moorland Retreat.
