For the price, and taking the dog we didn't expect the ritz. However the cracked kitchen sink (complete with bowl to catch the drips) set the tone for the rest of the cottage. On arrival the clean and fresh smell was inviting but the cobwebs and the greasy kitchen implements less so (toaster, radio, pan stands etc.). Generally the cottage was very tired, eg wall paper coming away in places, doors not latching properly. For most of our stay the cottage was lovely and quiet, however on the Frdiay a family arrived to stay in the upstairs apartment and we very aware of the creaking ceilings as they moved around. Having said all of that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the cottage provided an excellent base from which to explore the borders and Northhumberland. Don't feel we could recommend it until it was freshened up.
