The Old Dairy Pet-Friendly Cottage description

Holiday home
This property is a stylish modern barn conversion located on a real working farm which also boasts stables and horses. The property has two large bedrooms, both decorated in a modern country style and both with exposed wooden ceiling beams. The garden is well kept and fabulous views over the undulating hillsides that make up the surrounding area can be seen from the bedroom

Hereford has a lot to offer visitors in the form of it's quintessentially British vistas over the River Wye and also in its buildings which are steeped in history. Other must-see attractions include the Cathedral and the famous medieval city bridge.

Herefordshire offers visitors the chance to journey through lush green countryside, enjoying splendid black-and-white timbered villages, a magnificent cathedral city, a fairytale Georgian castle at Eastnor or books galore in famous Hay-on-Wye.

It was lovely and quiet, we loved the space of the cottage and the two stairs going up to the bedrooms at each end of the cottage. I just loved the farmhouse feeling in the kitchen, where we could all eat together, at the table, as a family. Would love to come back again.
Mrs Spencer

We loved the size of the cottage, it has a large dining table which fitted all my visiting family around for dinner. The beds were comfortable, and there was plenty of storage. I loved seeing the horses every day. The facilities were great, with plenty of towels provided. We cant wait to go back.

A pleasant, quiet country cottage situated on a working farm. A well keep garden and also surrounding fields for dog walking etc. Clean, tidy and well equipped. Spacious for a holiday cottage with ample storage. The owners live in the main farmhouse and are very accommodating, especially with our pesky Labrador puppy!

August 2011
Owners were friendly and helpful but not intrusive. We were provided with a barn where we were able to leave the dogs while we went out for the day, knowing that the owners would keep an eye on them. This enabled us to spend a relaxed day in Hay-on-Wye, in the bookshops, which wouldn't have been possible if we had had to take the dogs with us. We also enjoyed being able to walk our dogs on the farm fields.
Mr Johnson
July 2012

The Old Dairy at Winnal was definitely a winner with us. No expense was spared in the refurbishment of the dairy down to the smallest of detailing. Good quality equipment right through from television to egg cups and oh so spacious. Well located away from busy roads, excellent garden for children and pets. No complaints whatsoever. I highly recommend this holiday home.
Mr Lomas

The Old Dairy was a well thought out property and quite spacious. It was very pleasing to see that the property had been cleaned throughout to a high standard. There was plenty of room for our two dogs both inside and out, especially the enclosed garden. The owners were very friendly and helpful, but not at all intrusive.

Great location - close to amenities, yet far enough away from main towns/roads. Area has many things to do for families within easy driving distance.
Mrs Smith
June 2007
We have just enjoyed a fantastic 2 weeks at The Old Dairy, our dog got on famously with the farm dogs, which helped considerably. The Hereford area is superb, with easy access into Wales. The cottage was probably the highest standard we have experienced, either with time-share or private hire, the private garden was fantastic, we will be going back there!
Miss Wood
August 2006
Every little detail had been thought of. Tea and coffee with a jug of milk was there on arrival to welcome us with a bowl of fruit. The Dairy was spotless and there were lots of brochures with things to do around the area. The couple who owned the property were very friendly and helpful and we would highly recommend this place which is situated just outside of Hereford in a quiet setting.

We had great service from the owners, who live opposite the cottage, and were very flexible on our arrival time, the property was lovely and clean, with sheets and blankets supplied, plenty of towels for all of us, (and there was 4 adults and 2 small children), fast WiFi connection this was handy as the mobile phone signal was a little bit "hit and miss", having said that, this was entirely out of the owners control. i have to say that it was a very relaxed atmosphere, just carry on and do as you please, if we needed anything just slip across to the main house and ask, nothing was to much trouble. The 2 bedrooms had plenty of storage space, along with an upstairs toilet, you did have to watch out for the low beams, but that just goes with the territory!. Plenty of room to park vehicles, with a large lawned garden opposite fitted with lights, so no problem walking our 2 dogs there in the late evening, there is a large shed to the side of the property, just in case anyone with a dog would need to leave it there during the day for any reason, its more of an open barn, very open, but also very secure, so any dog would have plenty of room, this barn has a large gas BBQ that's available to use during your stay, with no shortage of gas supplied. Lots of Horse activity, but this isn't of any inconvenience, very informative conversations with some of the Horse owners, my grandson particularly liked a small horse called Scrumpy! Good location for all surrounding areas, and only 8 miles from the Welsh boarder, so a fantastic base for walking the Black Mountains and a visit to the Skirrid Inn, the local pub is probably a 15 minute walk, but not the best roads to walk along, as one section is quite busy. All of the usual large supermarkets are no more than a 10 minute drive, there's also one of those fast food takeaways starting with Mc, near the shopping area. What we liked the best! all of it! What i liked the least, some WD 40 could have been put on the doors & locks, to stop the creaking in the middle of the night, and save me having the rest of the family shouting at me!!. A Great place you wouldn't be disappointed.
Mr Gilbey
May 2006

August 2014
not having a recent review I was a little sceptical, on arrival that soon changed. A fantastic tucked away cottage with all what you could ask for & just as described. its on a stud farm, but isn't really that noisy, gone are the chickens & dogs these days so if that would worry you don't let it. The garden is adjacent, well kept, there is a dog run in a barn next door if you wish to use it, even with a bed & bowl! low beams in bedroom, but you soon get used to that, plenty of room, great shower room & large kitchen. Even the bus stop is in walking distance of a mile should you want to use it. A perfect base to explore & great hosts that leave you in peace! Thanks Mary & Pete for an enjoyable stay
October 2011
Comfortable, spacious well-equipped cottage. Very friendly, pleasant owners. Relaxed atmosphere. Garden is separate from the cottage, which is not so convenient for dog owners, but great to be able to walk dogs in the fields. Best feature is the comfortably equipped barn next to the cottage where dogs can be left in the day, with the owners keeping an eye on them, enabling you to go out without them.
November 2010
We had a great time at the Old Dairy. Our two girls, aged 2 and 4, loved thw whole experience and were keen to visit all the horses each day.
November 2010
A great cottage in a lovely part of Herefordshire. Very friendly hosts. The cottage has everything you could wish for. We had a very pleasent week.
December 2009
This property was once the Dairy on the owners farm, it has now been converted into spacious holiday accomodation. The kitchen was very large with everything provided, and the bathroom was also a very generous size. The bedrooms were very attractive with beams across the rooms, so watch your head! Set a short distance from Hereford this property was in an ideal location for touring this attractive county, and its only a short distance from the Welsh border. The owners were very welcoming and helpful, and we have no hesitation in recommending this property.
